Would you ever get a tattoo of lyrics from one of your favorite songs? I know I intend to, but I'm really into music and certain songs mean the world to me, so I was wondering how everyone else found out about music oriented tattoos.

No. Lyrics are a fairly stupid thing to get tattooed in my opinion because while the lyrics might mean something to you now, when you get older your situation will change and the lyrics will potentially be meaningless.

I can appreciate some tattoo's, as long as they're not too extreme :P I think that a tattoo of lyrics isn't very smart, its something that will stick with you forever, but the feelings you have at that moment for those lyrics wont...

it would've have to been a favorite song for a long time and only a couple words like "all you need is love"

I'd tattoo a song even if it won't apply in a few years. It's still a good reminder of how I felt throughout my life. I don't want to forget that.

my thoughts exactly,
even if the meaning gets lost as time goes on and you're thoughts and life change, it will always be there representing a part of your life when you DID feel this way.

I agree with you guys saying you don't want to forget that part of your life, but there are also lines in songs that I love that I would love to have tattooed on me even if it wasn't a line in a song. "Scream to be heard, like you needed anymore attention." happens to be a line from one of my favorite songs. I rarely listen to it anymore, but it's just beautifully worded and it's a part of my life and my personality that I don't see changing, and even if it does, like you guys stated, I don't want to ever forget that part of me.

Write your own lyrics for a tattoo. Trust me, as cool as the Blink182 lyrics seem, they won't be when you 30.

I'd be fairly certain that I want it first though. If I was planning to get a Lady Gaga tattoo... I'd think it over a bit, you know? No offence to Gaga fans, but it isn't the most intelligent thing to get tattooed on your skin. If you feel like doing that, still, think about it, wait a couple years... never get a tattoo on a whim. My only tattoo so far is an Edgar Allan Poe tattoo, and I've wanted something similar to it for years now, so I was quite sure it would be fine. It's only been three months anyway, I don't regret it yet. :P But I guess poetry is slightly different to lyrics in this particular case. It's harder to grow out of poetry.
I do plan on doing lyrics, but the one I've already designed, I made sure it wouldn't be something I'd grow out of, something generic enough that I wouldn't mind it even if I, for some odd reason, decide I hate the band, but specific enough that it's recognizable. And it's just going to be on my other wrist anyway. Nothing too obvious.

I feel exactly the same way. And honestly, I don't want lyrics because I like the band, I want lyrics because I like what they say and I feel like they help tell my story.

I'm getting "You only hear the music when your heart begins to break." I don't know where or how it'll be written, but I definitely want it because it's just a beautiful lyric in general, and it has a special place in my heart because it's from The Kids Of Yesterday by MCR (my favorite band since I was 13.)

If I ever did, it would probably be 'Let's toast each other, and drink to our sinking ship' from one of The Middle East's earliest/rare songs, but I probably wouldn't get a tattoo anyway.

I want a tattoo on my wrist saying "I am not afraid to keep on living".
Lyrics from Famous Last Words by My Chemical Romance.
Story of my life, an inspiration.
