Does anyone know how I can convert and iTunes m4p file, to an mp3 file?

Well since you have mp4 files, I take it you have iTunes. In that case, open iTunes up, click on Edit>Preferences>Advanced>Importing> And where it says Import Using: Change that from mp4 to mp3. Then right click the songs you want to convert and select Convert Selection to mp3, after that is done, you will have both mp4 and mp3 forms of the song/s. So just go and delete the mp4 ones if you want. Hope this helped

I'm getting "song title could not be converted because protected files cannot be converted to other formats."

You need to deprotect them somehow. I can't help you there, but that's what you have to do.

Oooh, I take it you bought the songs from the iTunes store. Yea, they protect those songs like a motherfucker. Lets just say its pretty hard to convert them, ever concider downloading? :P

What worked for me is burning it to a CD then ripping it back on itunes. It seems to wipe away the protection thing.
