As long as you are healthy, then it doesn't really matter if you are average or not.
The average U.S. adult height is 5'7", so you have nothing to worry about there.

I'm 15 and I'm almost 5'11 now. From what I've been told, tall runs in our family.
As for 'normal' height? Who can really say? I mean you are what you are, and that's gonna be normal. :)

I was prob 5-4//5-5 wen I was 15. I'm now 17 and 5-6...def shorter than most guys in my class and it is a lil weird seeing younger dudes that are taller. I cannot change or fix it so I try not to let it bother me

I was around 6'0/6'1 at 15 and im still growing now, roughly between 6'5 and 6'6. Your height is normal and you'll be growing for a little while more yet dont worry about it.

I am about to be 15 and am 5'10. Your parents might be telling you that you are tall because you are as tall as them or even taller. If I was 4' and someone who was 5' was standing in front of me, I would tell them that they are tall, see what I mean?

I think you are fine standing at 5'6 a couple of inches really doesnt make any difference, and you still have time to grow more taller.
