Never ever have.

Have you had treatment for cancer in the past, that is the only logical reason any doctor would want you to do that

Yeah man, in all the years I have been going to my physician and the past year I have been working in a hospital I have never been with a physician who has asked a patient to give them a semen sample during a regular physicial.

Probably not the same thing but I have to do that every 6 months. Though I've had some fertility problems so there's reasoning for it. But if there's no reason im not entirely sure why you're required to do this, maybe you should talk to the doctor you're seeing as to why?

Yeah, I have no idea why they make you do this, I have never had this done before....ask why next time.

I get a check up and a sports physical every year and i have never had to do this.
My DR does ask me questions about my masturbation habits, and has a quick look my penis, and does the turn and cough thing. Sometimes he takes some blood and asks me to go pee in cup...

my doctor asks me if i have sex, drugs, ect, and feels my balls, but thats what they all do. they do this to check how far along in puberty u are, but never have they ever had me edaculate, not even sure if i could las time i had one. ive only had one, but i asume its the same for all pysycals, so either ur doctor is weird, or there is some important reason. plz post y he has u do this when u find out

my aunt and uncle had to you in vitro fertilization to concieve their children but besides that, i don't think there's any other infertility problems in my family.

For some reason, I absolutely HATE going to the doctors when im not sick. I don't understand why. I just hate it. I've been telling then it's against my religion and I get out of the "checks" (pathetic, I know :3) but when I did go there for those checks, no never. I've never heard ofthem doing that though..

A doctor doesn't have the right to ask you to do that. Tell your mum mate and get another doctor. Sounds like a pedo

acurasrock
September 27th, 2011, 02:30 PM
Yeah that's kind of strange, I would definitely be asking why I need to provide a semen sample. I could see a blood sample, urine sample, but never j/o in a cup, that's just strange. I'd say something, for sure.

Mattattack

That's really wierd...I can't think of any reason to unless you have a disease or they are checking for it.

This info is from the NIH (National Institute of Heath)`s website:

Semen analysis is one of the first tests done to evaluate a man's fertility. It can help determine if a problem in sperm production or quality of the sperm is causing infertility. Approximately half of couples unable to have children have a male infertility problem.

The test may also be used after a vasectomy to make sure there are no sperm in the semen. This can confirm the success of the vasectomy.

The test may also be performed for the following condition:

Klinefelter syndrome

According to the article this is what they are analyzing in the sample.

Fluid coagulation (thickening into a solid) and liquefaction
Fluid thickness, acidity, and sugar content
Resistance to flow (viscosity)
Sperm movement or motility
Number and structure of the sperm
Volume of semen

Yeah, as everyone else is saying, I haven't neither. I would suggest you ask your doctor why on Earth you need to supply a semen sample. You're only 13. Unless your dad has fertility issues, or you have some type of condition that they have found by doing tests or what not, there is no reason for this. And to be honest, it makes me squirm that your only 13 and your doctor is making you do this.

my brother's friend does because he's got a family history of fertility problems. but my brother sees the same dr and doesnt have to. do you have a family history of penis related cancer or fertility problems with your dad? that could be why.

i've had to a couple times for fertility and all that jazz, i think everyone does it if they are planning a family so Dr's check for sperm count

My doctor is a female, early 50's i'd say. I had to ejaculate into a sample cup once. She stayed cuz I said "i don't care that you're here" and I had trouble getting an erection because I had some painkillers (they thin blood) earlier that day. She gave me a magazine and that didn't work so she got anxious because she had others waiting so she just took her top off along with her yoga pants so that did it for me. She's a great family Dr. lol.

There could be a genuine medical reason for this, I suppose, as people have said maybe to do with a history of fertility problems in the family or having been treated with drugs that can affect fertility. If so your doctor should be happy to explain.

Failing that I wonder if he is doing some private research and has signed you as a participant in a study without asking permission. That seems more likely than him being a paedophile and simply getting off on it as you say he does give you privacy.

That's not true. I'm transgender and there is an option to store sperm in a Sperm donation clinic where you can withdraw it when you're older, although again, I doubt this person will be undergoing Hormone replacement therapy like me
