Hey Guys :D, Um, for Christmas i've been told I'm getting a laptop, which i am not argueing about but my mum told me she will pick one if I can't find one, now my mum isnt the best at choosing things so can I get some choices?
It must:
Have a good memory
Have a good video card for games :P I hate my PC
Be under £400
So, thanks to all who answer.

Ebuyer is a good place to look for laptops. Personally I would go for an Acer laptop. They usually offer a lot of support and hardly really ever go wrong (At least they haven't in my experience). This one for example (http://www.ebuyer.com/271896-acer-aspire-5742z-laptop-lx-r4p02-221) I think is fantastic value for the money they're offering especially memory wise. 640HDD and 6GB Ram would be more than enough memory I'd say.

This is a good laptop for under 400 euros. (About 658 USD)
This has less ram and hard drive space than the one Kaius recommended, but it has a dedicated graphics card as well as a second generation i5.
So it has a much better processor, and dedicated graphics. (Just saying, you're not going to get a "Great" gaming laptop for under 1000 dollars US.

Macs are great for video and music, you might be able to get a used one for that price or a cheaper older one.
The best gaming laptop is alien ware, I think there are also used ones for under 400 pounds.

My only recommendation is NOT to get a Compaq. Pain in the ass, excuse for a laptop.

Get a Mac
For... Gaming?
That's funny.
Seriously.
No.
If you plan on gaming, DO NOT get a Mac. Even though, yes, you can slap Windows on there, Apple does not fully support that and will not provide the drivers for Windows. Meaning, even though you may have the hardware to play whatever game you want, you can't because Apple won't let you.
As far as brands go, ASUS & Acer are both really nice, and tend not to have a ton of crapware pre-installed. Dell is an *ok* brand. Stay away from Gateway if you want a working laptop within a week of the warranty ending.
For specific laptops, it's hard to give suggestions, as I really don't know you. "Good for gaming" is incredibly vague, what may work for my kind of gaming, might not work for you.
I don't know if Europe has an equivalent site, but Newegg (http://newegg.com/) is probably the best site to compare any kind of electronic. Read the hundreds of reviews, compare specs, etc.

No, a Mac would not be desirable for gaming. The best gaming laptops are Alien Ware (a Dell company), but I don't know if the is in your price range.

I do not plan on getting a Mac, i'm not stupid, I want a windows computer, I'm considering an Acer Laptop, i've read a few reviews and this and it seems a popular suggestion. And i really don't want a gaming laptop, just something with a good video card with compatibility for good games

As long as it doesn't say 'Integrated Intel Graphics' you should be fine. :P

I've stuck with Dell and they're pretty dependable for a decent price. Though like it's been said... do not get a damn intel integrated card... -_- It limits your game choice. By a small fraction, but still it does. For compatible games, it gets the job done well. But if you want to play any game that runs on something other than DirectX, you're screwed.

Windows sucks, yes. Mac is good, but not in gaming. DELL sells some top quality laptops with perfect graphic and video card and with heaps of memory and other computer crap. My mate hates windows but he has one. And, how they are made are nicer and more expenive looking than the shit you get in stores. It's the best in New ealand and Australia.
