It sounds like you've just rubbed it a bit raw, or if you use lube you could have had a reaction to it. There's many things it could be. Even sand so small you didn't notice and you rubbed it raw with sand.
Leave it alone for a few days and if it still hurts see a doctor.

yeah it might bebecause the sand was in the way and you irritated it. also because maybe u jo a lot today, let yourself rest for a few days. everyone could use a break

also make sure something didn't bit you. being at the beach, something could have crawled up your shorts, literally.

Yeah most likely sand shouldn't be a problem - but make sure you do keep a close eye on it.

Just wash it and stop 'touching it' for a few days and see if it still hurts, if it does I guess you should see a doctor

You probably just irritated the skin... I would give it a break for a day or two. Although if it persists, I would see a doctor.
