View Full Version : Double standards?
Short Circuit

Why is it, when a boy sleeps around, he is called a player, when a girl sleeps around, she is a slut?
I think this is a case of double standards. I do not care how many partners a girl has had before me, (so long as she does not compare me to them)
Whats your thoughts on this?
Hopefully, both boys and girls will answer!:yeah:

I remember reading something that explained this, it's based around older people (20-35).
Basically it said that for girls, it's A LOT easier to get a guy to have sex with them then a guy to have sex with a girl. So for a guy to sleep with lots of girls it's a accomplishment since he had to work for it but a girl can do that easily hence the label.

I think it's stupid too. But isn't the word whore used for someone who sleeps around more? I thought a slut was just a Miley Cyrus-esque girl who goes around wearing almost no clothes.

well for guys it's like good to have lost your virginity because most girls are hard to get them to have sex, and girls are supposed to be clean and pure and respect their body, thats what i think, but i actually dont know

I kinda agree with the guys above, but its mainly because girls are expected to be pure and untouchable and guys are expected to all wanna screw anything with a pulse (not saying either of these are true). It an incorrect social "norm".

I think the above posts have nailed it.
Personally, I believe that if you truly care for someone than that's when you have sex.
I truly care for a lot of people though :) Still a virgin :(
Truly though, it's the current society. Unfortunately, it will only get worse as time goes on. Personally I believe it's wrong.

maybe it's because a girl can go multiple times in a night whereas it takes a guy some time to rebuild his stamina.

This. If a girl is relatively attractive, or not in some cases I would imagine, then they can basically sleep with any single guy that seems interested because guys practically always want sex. But a guy can't just sleep with any single girl he sees because, however this sounds, girls aren't generally known for wanting sex that much.

I personally think that they are either both sluts or they both deserve high fives. C: I don't get why being promiscous outside of a relationship is a bad thing. If a guy slept around before deciding to settle in with me...fine, I get it! Human nature. :P

Here's a metaphor some wise man told me:
"If you have a key that opens all the locks, you have a master key, but if you have a lock opened by all the keys, you have a broken lock."

"If you have a key that opens all the locks, you have a master key, but if you have a lock opened by all the keys, you have a broken lock."
That is so misogynistic.
Anyone who just sleeps about with anybody isn't exactly respectable in my book, especially in their teenage years. There's a difference between having sex a lot and having sexual experience.

I hate double tandards with a burning passion. It is alright if two girls go to the movies together but if my and my best friend do the ticket taker laughs and asks if we want to share the couples rate, I have nothing against two guys going to movies together as friends but double standards just piss me off.
Rant concluded.

Your movie theater has a couples rate? Holy fuck, why do you not take that up?

That's actually a very fair point, never thought about that sort of double standards before.

Ohhh, we did, and then we walked in and laughed as we kissed our girlfriends that we were meeting there.
Peace God

"Slut" is much more about personality than action. Being a girl that "sleeps around" doesn't necessarily make that person a slut.
