need help choosing

i have a question and i would greatly appriciate it if you could help me decide thanks


so here it is --- i was abused by my dad when i was 11 it went on for 2 years and i never told any one just allways said that it was nothing hes drunk hes just making a mistake he is bearly aware of what he is doing well finly i realized that it wasnt ok and i had enough so i fanly fought back. one day when he threw me on the ground and cussed me out with a beer in his hand so i fought back got out of the house called my mom told here everything and got picked up by her but heres the thing it has been a year and a half and my dad is trying to get ahold of me trying to MAKE IT UP and he was actually really cool when he wasnt drunk but im just trying to figure this out should i go back up to tampa and trust him again or should i ignore him he also is in aaa now im just trying to figure this out pleas help

I'm really sorry to hear about all that you've been through...

Why not try agreeing to a meeting with your dad with someone else you trust present, whether it is your mom or just a friend. That way you will have moral support and a second opinion on whether he has truly changed.

if he's in aa that's a great start! i'd say have him come to your town, don't go to him, that way, you are in a more comfortable environment. maybe ask him to come down and you can have lunch, if it goes well spend the day together, have dinner and then go your separate way. continue on like this until you feel comfortable going to tampa to see him.
