Lol... I wonder how people can use this as derogatory against atheism. When, basically... it's correct? :P

I'd just shake my head, and say. Have fun with your flying spaghetti monster in the sky. I really try to avoid religious discussions with people I don't know well though.

It's not even correct. That image is pure trolling material anyway. Only a brainwashed idiot would actually believe that's what atheists think – atheism is simply the disbelief in God, and nothing more.

Science and atheism are two different things. Atheists are more open and accepting of science, but they're really not the same. So this 'argument' against atheism isn't even a real argument (and that's not including it's inaccuracy).

EXACTLY. This argument is stupid, none of us can prove there is a god, it doesnt mean we can't believe in one, it just means that we differ in opinions... theres no point in starting an argument like this, it doesnt rely on facts it relies on opinions and beliefs, it will never end and thus is not worth our time.

When bible thumpers use that argument, I just say:
"God is a spaghetti monster....prove me wrong."
Ha ha they try to use the bible to answer... but I am about 99.8% sure that nowhere in the bible does it state that God ISN'T a spaghetti monster. C: It makes the debate that much funner! (Hee hee at least for me. :P)

These kinds of things are what happens when Neo-Nazi skinheads go to /b/ thinking that the racism and homophobia (i.e. calling everyone a nigger or faggot) on there is legitimate. They're often bible thumpers (and I mean very fundamentalist) and when they see trolling material such as that, they don't realize that nothing on that imageboard is to be taken seriously. Everyone is trolling, all the time. And, because their understanding of reality is limited to Jeebus 'n th' KKK, they bring such troll logic away from its natural habitat and out into the internet at large. It slowly filters down, until people forget where it actually came from.

This.
Like my friend told me,her atheism is only a opinion, she isn't going to any bible burning, she isn't trying to spread her belief, and she does know there is a right and wrong. She just doesn't have to have a sky being tell her if it is or not.If you have a God,good for you.Don't use God as an excuse to be hurtful,or bashful to another group. Why would an all loving being want you to hurt someone else for their beliefs?
There are a lot of misconceptions about atheist, but I also believe that goes as well with theist.I think we should stop accusing each other of what others have done with or under our name.

why can't people respect one another and their beliefs? that's my main issue and concern. i've never understood why people can't just be people and be ok with that. i'm a christian, and attempt to base my life solely around the Bible. i am a completely Bible believing christian, but i have no issue's with any other religions. everyone has a right to his or her beliefs. my best friend is an atheist. another close friend is a mormon. this has never come between us. it's not my job to convert someone. it's my job to allow someone to follow their heart.
