I know this might not be any new news to some, but I just found out about this today. There will be an update to the Xbox 360's current dashboard coming up this fall. It's being called NXE (New Xbox Experience) 2.0, and will be able to function off of voice commands from the Kinect. NXE 2.0 is also supposed to have YouTube and Bing support, something some people have been waiting months for.

I'm well aware it was (from all the articles on it I have read). I however didn't watch E3 this year, because I was too lazy.

And..... Covered by G4: http://www.g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/post/715601/twist-control-the-new-xbox-360-dashboard/

I think it looks pretty sexy, to be honest.
I know there's a lot of people out there who don't like Microsoft's tile-based ('Metro') interface that they're switching to on all their platforms, but meh, it's pretty damn good looking, and works well too.

Heard it at E3 but it's gonna take some getting used to

I think it's going to be shit. You'll have to talk so slowly at the Kinect that it'll be easier and faster to just use a controller, the bing search only searches for content on the xbox and I'm guessing that the YouTube is either going to be really slow to buffer videos and/or it's going to be impossible to look at peoples channels and related videos etc.

Lol, everyone says something about a new layout/theme is going to be shit. Why can't anybody just be chill with it and adapt. :what:

I don't have a Kinect, so the entire voice commands will be pointless to be, not that I've ever liked voice commands for any device. But I agree, controller would be much faster and easier. As for the Youtube stuff, I say it's all dependent on your own connection rather than anything else. When I was with shitty BT with my fake 10Mbps (it was 1Mbps) I couldn't view Sky on my Xbox for shit. But as soon as I jumped to 50Mbps with Virgin, everything goes way faster (not that I use Sky on the Xbox anymore because I decided to just buy a Sky Box for my room).. But I'm pretty sure it'll be all based on your connection, and I'm sure Microsoft will have their fingers all over this and change the theme for Youtube. I just hope you're wrong about checking channels and such, that'd just kill the point of Youtube.

Only thing that makes me think that is that they advertised the bing search as being able to search the internet and look for anything you wanted... then they showed a bit more in depth and it turned out to be just for xbox content, which is completely pointless.

Wow, you seem to know a lot about this. Have you used it? Seen it in-depth in action?
No.

You've obviously never used the voice commands for the CURRENT dashboard interface with Kinect, you don't have to speak slow, it doesn't have to be quiet in the room. It can be loud as fuck and the Kinect will STILL know EXACTLY what you're saying. Fast speaking it also correctly recognizes, and trust me, it never gets it wrong. (If it's correctly set up. If it's incorrectly set up, that's the fault of whoever set it up, not the device's)
Voice commands, and voice searching will only get better with the next dashboard interface as they're adding TellMe to it, and with having TellMe on my phone (A Windows Phone), I can tell you it's not going to be shit. I've tried fooling TellMe, by speaking slow then fast, speaking quiet, speaking with a lisp, speaking with all sorts of different accents, slurring my speach. It gets it. Every. Time.

The Bing search also DOES NOT just search for content on the console itself.
It also searches the Marketplace for games or avatar content for your search, as well as searching Netflix, Hulu, YouTube & the Zune marketplace for movies/videos, and it'll search Zune & Last.FM for music searches. Not to mention that it will also search for TV shows if you have a TV service on your Xbox (ATT UVerse for the US or SKY for the UK).

Also, you have no fucking clue what the YouTube support is going to be. (No one does as of yet)
Microsoft isn't stupid, they're not going to release a half-assed YouTube client on their FLAGSHIP MULTIMEDIA DEVICE.
Christ.

You wanna call something shit again in here? Do some research first before you start saying "It's going to be this" and "I'm sure it's going to not do that" or "They're only going to half-ass this".
It only makes you look like you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.

Edit: To add to what I've said. Voice searches are not going to be exclusively Kinect anymore. They will work with a headset/microphone.

I did say it's what I thought and what I was guessing. Obviously I don't know what it's actually going to be like, nobody does.

You did start off saying you think it will be shit, but you then backed it up by saying "You will have to speak slowly", which isn't true. "It only searches on the Xbox" which is partially not true, depending on how you read that. It searches ALL Xbox content, as well as 3rd party content provided on the Xbox.
You did go back to guessing on the YouTube bit, but knowing Microsoft, they wouldn't release a shit client for the Xbox, unless Google interferes. Since YouTube is a Google service, and releasing a YouTube client on a service as large as Xbox Live, Google *May* step in a block some features of YouTube that Microsoft would have otherwise included.

Also, I *am* sorry for flipping on you as bad as I did (At least, it looks bad in my head) in the previous post. It's just been a LOONG ass day. ._.

Oh. Lol. Looking back at my actual wording it is rather assumptive. Fair enough :)

(I still love you :P)
