has anybody seen any films about self harm?

and how did you feel about them?

iv seen painful secret, i think thats what its called anyway. and it made me feel more angry than anything else. i dont think it really depicts the life of someone who self harms at all and it annoys me.

There was this documentary I had to watch in AP Psych, and one of the women had BPD and talked about how she would cut herself. Didn't talk too much about it, but it seemed pretty accurate, at least how I feel when I cut.

I remember when she was asked why, there was a silence and she goes "I felt alone."

One of the girls in the back of the class scoffed and I got really mad but didn't say anything.

To be honest I haven't seen any films that are self harm related, none on tv and don't know of any.

ive seen one or two films with scenes of self harm, but they werent accurate and so it just annoyed me :/ so not really, no. :/ x

I have seen stuff like 4321 which had a girl in that self harmed but you don't get to know till right at the end. And on the l word where jenny gets sectioned for it. That annoyed me a little cause they made out she had went crazy.

The movie 13 has a girl who cuts herself throughout. I really liked the movie, but it is triggering in one scene.

in this one movie Painful Secrets there is this girl that curt, and the whole school found out. and the bully was like Cut-trell cause her (the cutters) name is catrelle, and the bullly was saying "oh show me how you slice and dice" that really bothered me.
then when the brother went in her room during a manic part, the parents were fighting the bro said "next time you cut i hope you kill yourself" that part i cried.

Girl Interrupted is about a girl in a psych hospital with BPD. It has some small references to cutting but the film is definetly worth the watch. I didn't find it triggered me to cut but if you've had any experience with hospitals, psych or even just emergency departments for anything like that, it can be triggering, it was for me.

i always made fun of cutting with my friends, they said how stupid it was and i agreed right along with them. i couldn't imagine letting them know how i really felt about it. i can already here the mocking and stuff if i said, hey guys, i cut. which is true, i did. i stopped awhile ago, but it was very tough. seeing it in a movie wouldn't bother me though, just like seeing drug use and drug babies don't. unfortunately, it's a part of life.

I saw this french movie called 'Ben X' once...

It was about this autistic boy in high school, who was always made fun of.
In one of the scenes, he broke a mirror out of anger and used a shard to cut himself.

The move wasn't a self harm movie, but it was a scene that related to it. The movie also had to do with him wanting to commit suicide. The plot was weird, and I didn't understand it completely because I was young and it was in french...so I didn't understand much.

in the first saw there is a little bit where this man was a cutter and jigsaw put him in a room full of barbed wire with a trap door and said something like. i know you cut your self and if you really want to die just sit there but if you actually want to live and are just doing it for attention then sit there and die. this really got to me then we all kinda started arguing about it and i had to kind of stick up for myself with out drawing attention to myself.
