Telling your parents

Has anyone told their parents that they self harm? How did they react? I want to tell them so I can get help, but I'm afraid of what they will say.

no i didnt tell mine i only ever did it a couple of times im sure ur parents will understand and want to help isnt that what loving parents are there for.and yes im sure ur afraid of telling them but its great that u want help.just tell them its not like it could be any worse than harming urself further

i only did it for a while a long time ago, i didnt tell my parents, but they found out anyway. my dad dint say anything and my mom cryed a lot, it was awkward for a while, but it helped, i havn't even thought about doing it since then, its not gonna be very easy, i promise it will take a huge wieght off ur back, even if you didn't know it was there, and it will help you get over this thing. you'll always be sensitive about the topic of hurting yourself, but it'll get better and you will be happy :)
