Well, how does he exactly do it that scares you? Does he talk about it all the time? Or is it possible to just ignore it or ask him to stop talking about it?

Believes are really interesting, but always remember what you do not believe can't hurt you.
Unless you believe, im sure spells and wiccan dont do much for a non believer.
If he is your friend, i highly doubt he would hurt you. As the law of the wiccan, they believe in the law of the three folds. Stating that what ever energy placed on a person, positive or negative, it will be returned 3 times.
But its up to believe.
Cheers
P.S Do watch the movie Skeleton Key
Its evolves alot about believe and magic.

again if he is a wiccan. Forces of this world can have diffrent effect weather you belive or not.
Also it depends if he studies "White" or "black" "magick" (dislike using those terms as they are rather old fashioned and i do not belive black has anything to do with evil)

I'm pagan. But I definitely don't curse. But then again, I'm wiccan(form of paganism). Which means I (try to) abide by the wiccan rede "An it harm none do as ye will" and we believe in the three fold law(karma). Spells, yes, we do perform. But don't worry, honey. It's like like eye of toad and foot of babe or anything lol. Most pagans are vegan or vegetarian. Paganism is an umbrella term for eath-based religion before christianity.
Spells are basically prayers but with probs. It's like some people pray holding crosses, you know? We speak to Deity or ask for guidance from the Elements Earth Air Water Fire Spirit using candles, gemstones or whatever it is. Yes, we have rituals but a circle is like our portable church.
If he curses or sacrifices living things(We are completely anti-animal-cruelty. We leave offerings and say thank you to trees or plants if we take something from them). If he's like, going "Abracadabra!" or killing things or poking voodoo dolls with pins... He definitely is not a Wiccan. Maybe he's a Witch. But not Wiccan. I, however, am a Witch.
You can be a Witch but not Wiccan but if you're a Wiccan, you're a witch.
Ask me if you have any questions!

Pagans are in my experiences awesome and amazing people! Maybe you should take interest in it yourself.

It shouldn't scare you unless he's saying it to achieve a certain image, like the poser goths and emos that like to pose as devil-worshippers only to help their image. If he goes on to talk about the infant he is sacrificing for the autumnal equinox, then I would think it rational for it to freak you out, and in that situation he's probably posing...
True neopaganism isn't something to fear. You'll find that a lot of the pagan beliefs and morals are quite genuine and respectable. I can related so much more to Wicca than I can to Christianity for instance. It's a very free and easy-going culture I find. I get along with Wiccans very well.
And yes, it does depend on the type of paganism. It would be worth your while to ask him what exactly his religion is. Pagan is an umbrella term.

Well, some people can actually do magic. You should tell your friend how you feel, it's a friend after all :>

If you're of a younger age (12 - 14) it's likely just a phase. A LOT of people go through the "magic" phase and it (almost) always passes.
My advice would be to deal with it, try to move the conversation, and let is pass on its own (so long as it does).

Tell him that you respect his way of life, but wouldn't like to hear about something you really don't believe in all the time.

I follow a similiar religeon. Avoiding him isn't the solution, nor is telling them to stop.
Tell them that you are uncomfortable with it, but you respect their beliefs, and ask if they could stop talking about it so much. If they're a true friend, they will listen.
