Is it possible to hold some sort of competition to create a new banner for VT? It looks pretty boring in my honest opinion...

As I was when I made the banner, I'm game for a sort of run-off for the new banner. Leave it to the kids who know how to use Photoshop, not the wannabe's though. You don't need tacky shit.

As for why it's boring, I redesigned the VT banner as a gimmick, but still wanted it to have some feel of the old VT banner (which I saw as just a C4D with Text) so I did just that, a C4D, some text, and a few gloss effects. Nothing fancy. It started in The Art Room and Sage, I think, told me to post it up here which lead to it being added up.

Personally, I don't like it, even if it's "my mark" on VT. If someone can create something better (which won't be hard), I say let them! I've thought since day one that the whole forum needed a visual overhaul, but that's just me. Hell, if someone makes a nice enough one it may inspire me to kick some effort into making a real one. (:

On EY, we even allow our members to design the banner every now and again, especially around holidays. It's just a fun, simple way to involve the community in the forum. I mean, the holiday banners only run for a week or two, so no real harm can be done, and since the staff picks the winner, inappropriate banners, or tacky ones, never make face time.

One guy suggested this a while back, about replacing my version, and I was the only one who supported him. Everyone else just kinda gave him the finger about it.

But anyway. I think the banner is perfect the way it is.

This was discussed when the banner was made which is exactly why the vBulletin theme doesn't have a banner. Yes, it's not as attractive of a theme, but it doesn't preserve the anonymous nature of VT.

that's why I use vBulletin. but then my parents and brothers can see the name on the tab anyways :l

There are mods to change what displays up there (It can also be done without mods), but I don't think there is a way to toggle it on/off by user or by theme. It would be a global application. :/

Use chrome, pin the tab. All it will display is the symbol, not the name of the webpage.

This is why i have the vBullentin theme on my school computer. People care about others business too much if you're on something they haven't heard of.

Still have Forever Blue home though, and I think the banner is perfectly fine. Though in my opinion the banner probably looks best in Forever blue, but that might be because I'm used to it.

Well, nothing is wrong with it but, it has been here for almost a year, and it is kind of getting boring. Plus, it would make a great competition to people who could make banners.

I do like it as well, but why not make a little competetion? We dont ave to change it if no one wants to, but maybe in the art room or something there could be a competition.

Because for whatever reason, no one wants to make an effort to change it. Everyone who suggests a change never has any ability to change it. Why try to change something you can't? Had someone practiced tried this as Flippy did, time has proven that they get cussed out. It's a stupid circle of nonsense.
