The "Under-Class" as most news channels refer to it have been protesting.

These protests have not been within the law and have caused really pointless amounts of damage to buildings and property and for what?

Now obviously we all have the right to protest but at the end of the day we can all say that what is going on over the last week in London is not protesting. A Sky News Online public poll states that 15% of people thought it was a protest and 85% of people think it’s out of greed.

So what are your opinions on these protests that have been going on in London?

Protesters resort to violence because it works. It gets them attention, brings awareness to their cause, and scares people in power. If people don't like violent protests, maybe they should take peaceful ones more seriously.

Protesters do it for a cause though, there doesn't seem to be any reason behind this besides greed and getting a kick out of throwing Molotovs at houses.

I agree nothing comes out of this

and it does not make sense to say its about rises in tax and cost as most of the shops they destroyed were "budget stores" or at least resnoble price

Kinda what Sage said. All though,I don't condone violence,it gets a lot more attention and views then peaceful protest. But,on the other hand,I also think if you stick to your peaceful protest and successful, you're more likely to get more respect.

But alas, the big people on top don't really care when the little ones are protesting unless we threaten to hurt them or,do take action and do so.I still think if you go about it peacefully, and succeed(which is the tough part lol) in the end you will get a hell lot more respect. But a lot of people are starting to be like fuck it I just want to be heard,so they do what they can.

If you're referring to Sage, he didn't mention that point. He was talking about how it's a way to get people's attention, I was asking 'for what?', because these pseudo 'protests' don't seem to have any cause, people are just rioting because well... they can, and they are getting away with it now, even with increasing police patrolling the entire country.

The first peaceful protest occurred as a result of the police not releasing information about Duggen's killing earlier. What happened afterwards was simply plain stupid - it was people without much to lose realising they could get away with looting expensive items and youth going out for a thrill, burning down shops. Whatever message there was to the riots, it disappeared after the first day. And with the government that we have, any harsher police action would have led to a decade's worth of inquiries into whether the way they tried to stop the riots was appropriate. That's one thing I absolutely fucking hate.

What's been happening this week in England has been nothing remotely similar to a 'protest'. The tuition fees and anti-cuts demos were 'protests', this has been nothing more than mass, directionless criminal opportunism. Most of them don't give a shit about the death of Mark Duggan.

It's nothing to do with class or race either, all races (black, white, Asian, etc) have been rioting and looting, so have people of all classes and incomes. University students/graduates, grammar school students, a model, the list goes on. It's not even just young teens/pre-teens, as there's been a lot of people in their 20s, 30s and 40s arrested..

There's absolutely nothing political about it.
