Sorry if this is in the wrong area.
I didn't see a general discussion forum so I posted here in hope of getting an answer.
If need be, move the thread.
I was curious, what rep is on here?
How is it awarded?
Does it mean anything?

Reputation in the FAQ: http://www.virtualteen.org/forums/faq.php?faq=vb3_user_profile#faq_vb3_reputation
Usually, if someone likes something you've said, they'll give you "+rep", or a green block. Then that "Rep Power" number goes up and more green blocks come under that.
If someone dislikes your post, they'll "-rep" it and enough of those will turn those green blocks into a red one.
It doesn't really matter if you choose to ignore/disable it.

You will see a little number called "rep power" This is your reputation power. If you +rep someone, you will give them your rep power in rep points. Like for example, if you +rep me and you have a rep power of 12, that will add 12 points to my rep points.
How ever for -rep, if your rep power is 12, it will only take half your rep power, like if you neg rep someone, and your rep power is 12, it will only deduct 6 points from the othher users profile.

It's something overly rated honestly, it's something very subjective, depending if people decide to give rep to you.
It can be used as a general indicator of that person's post, but never a rulebook.
It's in equivalence to a "like" on facebook.

But sometimes people randomly give neg rep on purpose ,or cause they don't agree with you ,they neg rep you ,ie. My case -15 rep

Rep is your reputation. It represents your position in this website. Higher rep, higher fame.

Honestly, it just shows how much the high rep kids like you, or how much they despise you.

Just don't take rep seriously. Soooo many people mis-use it. When I was a mod, i used to get loads of it (neg rep not +rep), being P101 :P

This is half truth. You dont give or subtract blocks, you give or subtract points.....

Absolutely right. Your own rep power goes up by 1 for every 50 points you receive. You also get additional rep power increases for length of time on site and number of posts.
