so my therapist is gonna put me on a low dose of trazadone as a sleep aid

have any of you been put on this? does it really help?

I've taken melatonin and valerian root at full strength and they did nothing for me, so I was hoping this would finally help me sleep

I take 50 mg of trazadone and most of the time i sleep really good. It really helps me but does not "knock me out" like other, and i do not get too many side effects except for dry mouth; so i just keep a big taco bell cup with water in by my bed so i can drink some as soon as i wake up. I hope it works for you. :)

I was on Trazadone for a little while last year, as a sleep aid prescribed by my psych. I will say- I got to sleep pretty well with it, but it also did some weird things to me. I never felt like I was fully awake, and always seemed to be dazed out. I had hallucinations from time to time, which kinda freaked me out. So I got off that medication pretty fast.

Of course, this was just my experience. It probably works just a little differently on everyone, and you've got some better testimonials about it above:) So, good luck with it, and hope it works well for you.

I've been on it myself. Very poor sleep-aid in my opinion. I found that taking a pseudoephedrine or any other decongestant (e.g. phenylsynephrine) helped with the stuffy nose that's pretty common. Next-day grogginess is a pain in the ass. I'd look for something better, myself.

Trazadone is a good sleep aid, once I find the right dosage for you. Tollerance builds very fast with those pills, and you need to talk to your doctor once your old dose isn't working. I've been on dozens of different sleeping pills over the past four years, starting at 14 because of severe insomnia. By the end of my usage of traz, I was up to 6 50mg pills every night. Anymore, and it would have started to work as an anti depressant. I don't NOT reccomend serequel, as I took it for just 3 days, and wound up extremely depressed from the medication. Traz is by far the safest sleeping pill avaliable. No sleeping pill will ever "knoick you out" but it will help you sleep through the night. Hope this helps
