Is it right?

(Not sure where to put this) But Is it right that at one of my moms teacher convetions (OH yeah and were Native American) that some teacher stood up during a native presentation and said that back during the time of the forced schooling of natives was a good thing and to say were savages and that we should have been assilimated I want to hear your thoughts on this

ummm no. that's not appropriate even though many tribes were "savages" it was how they lived back then and provided. it wasn't uncommon. some tribes were just out right brutal though.

And in all honesty, back in the day when Indians were running in numbers and what not, I don't think it was right for them to be force schooled. They lived how they wanted. How would all those people forcing them have felt if the Indians had FORCED all of them to be schooled in the ways of Indians and made them convert to their beliefs? Woulda sucked. That teacher had no right to stand up and voice such an opinion in a room with people who have strong Indian blood like that. Completely wrong.
