Ok what do you people think are some ways the United States can garner some revenue to help pay off this debt, right now they can only pay off the interest none of the principle from what I've heard.

The Democrats don't got no spine to back up their ideas to raise taxes but the USA is no longer in a debt that can be solved by raising taxes there needs to be cuts but the Republicans all they want to do is cut except the military

My ideas are these

1. - Pardon and release all non violent drug criminals
2. - Legalize all drugs and tax them - The results from this drugs would cost alot less and even though taxed the regular user will be happy cuz it still costs less than the street value
3. - Legalize and tax prostitution
4. - Cut spending to the military (China has 4.4 million soldiers protecting 1.4 billion people and the USA has 1.5 million soldiers protecting 330 million people yet the USA spends 8 times more money than China)
5. - reform the health care system (The US spends more money on health care for the amount of stuff people get when with proper reforms they can give the people better coverage for less money and the people will be happier and stronger but the stupid Republicans just don't believe it)
6. Raise income tax

What are you ideas?

just because ur country is in debt doesn't mean it suddenly becomes ok to do drugs and have sex for money. also raising income tax is not such a good thing either. see for an economy to be strong u have to have people spending money and people making money. if u take this money away from ur ppl then they cant spend as much. have u ever wondered why ur interest rates are like 1%? in Australia it is like 6%. ur government is trying to encourage ppl to borrow money and start spending again. but anyway, the debt issue. first and foremost military shud be cut down, however pulling out of the middle east could be a bad decision because it could destabilize the oil supply for the world. perhaps reducing welfare and foreign aid. things like social security. idk its a tough one and its gonna hurt but if u dont get out of it. america will go down and it will be much much worse.

Military cuts don't have to have anything to do with pulling out of the middle east. We have troops stationed in Frances, England, Mexico, and Japan. Why? Just to be there. We have to pull useless troops like that out of places that don't need them there.

Taxing the rich is one of my top ideas. The top 2% make more than the bottom 50% combined. This isn't right. People are struggling to feed their children while bank owners play monopoly with their money. Yes, sure the some rich people worked hard for their millions but it isn't fair the many of them got it by oppression the middle class.

Also we need to stop funding schools. We are throwing billions of dollars into the education system and it's not getting better. We need to step back and analyse the problem. In my state of New Jersey, the poorest cities have the most school funding yet their drop out rates are 33%. Why are kids dropping out? How come most students aren't reading at their grade level? Why are test scores low? Who's fault is it? We need to attack the problem more thoroughly and uncover what the real problems are. Once we are sure of what to fix, we can spend the money appropriately. Not the other way around.

This is only social boundries that are put up. something being "OK" in our cultural view may well be the answer to the problem we have.

This actually sounds like a good plan. But what sounds good on paper isnt always the same in action. This seems like a good way to raise alot of the money but dont forget what drugs can cause (illness, death, ect.)

lower taxes... in the past it has shown that if you lower tax rates there is economic growth and the standard of living increases

if you raise taxes people become scared to use money and they will spend less of it to make sure they have enough to get by. but if you lower taxes people spend their money more freely due to an increase in monetary security

Taxing the rich, how much more are you thinking? Yes, some rich people have been born into rich families, but, others have worked hard to get to be rich. It's extremely unfair to them to be taxed more because they have been successful at life. Do you want them to move to a different country and bring the company with them? Unemployment just goes up.

The problem for students is that they aren't getting support from their home life. You can get teach students at school, but, they need supportive parents for their future. Do you want to defund the schools to the point that the students who are doing good end up doing poorly?

We also don't have any bases in Mexico, by the way.

We don't need to decrease spending on education. We just need to reform it. There shouldn't be standardized testing, because teachers now are just teaching for the test when that's the opposite of what they need to do. We also need to repeal No Child Left Behind. It doesn't make sense to decrease funding to the worse schools.

Anyway, I think the government should establish the cheapest companies possible and just keep the profit (of course you'd have to pay the people working at the companies). This would also help the economy by employing thousands of people around the country.
