So I have Herpes Simplex Virus Type-1 (HSV-1) which are the cold sores. I had it ever since I was a kid (15 atm) and I haven't had a cold sore on me for quite some time.So I was wondering if I kiss or give oral to someone while I don't have a cold sore on me at the time, will I spread the virus to them?
Obviously if I have a cold sore I shouldn't kiss or give oral, but what if I had a cold sore and let it disappear. Would a two week waiting time after it disappeared be alright for it to be gone and then I can do whatever?

I am sure that you have researched this a lot more than I have but I found this information and cut and pasted it for general knowledge of others.
It appears ( from what I have read) that you cannot unless you have an actual active sore.
On a practical level, this means oral HSV-1 is often the most easily acquired herpes infection. Usually the first herpes simplex virus that people encounter, oral HSV-1, is typically spread simply by the kind of social kiss that a relative gives a child. Because children have no prior infection with any HSV type, they have no immune defense against the virus.
By the time they're teenagers or young adults, about 50% of Americans have HSV-1 antibodies in their blood. By the time they are over age 50, some 80-90% of Americans have HSV-1 antibodies.
Herpes Simplex 1 and 2 can be easily spread from one person to another, so be careful when it comes to choosing a sexual partner or coming into contact with someone with visible blisters.
If you do have herpes, make sure to take care of yourself, eat a proper diet, exercise and reduce stress to keep outbreaks in check. The stronger your body is the better it can combat Herpes 1 and 2 viruses and keep it in remission.

Ah alright. Thanks! I just needed to know if it only counts if I have an active one. Thank you for the info!

I got it from my mom. Don't remember how exactly, but it was either from a kiss, or I shared a drink with there. And yeah there are medicines I can take, but mine is not very severe where it pops up a lot. It's a rare occasion, like once every 5ish or so months I would probably get one.

I also have it and like the post said you usually get it from a relative(In our case our mother) and yes you can only transfer it with an active cold sore.

I am sorry but you are wrong, Herpes has to be contracted or else every person walking around that is stressed and kissed someone would be giving that person herpes.
I would love to see your support for this answer.

People with herpes are really hard, things changed a lot once you get it. That’s why the largest Herpes dating site MeetHerpes.com now has reached up to 680,000 members - a friend of mine who works for the site told me so.
I hope there will be a cure for herpes soon.

You cannot spread it unless you have a cold sore on you at the moment and place of the event

Seeing a doctor may help but also knowing you have cold sores and hickeys he might just tell you the same thing

Well you see as the way the condom has the possibal chance of ripping no its no good cause the exterior could have the diseases on it also and he stated that so far he hasn't seen any visibal trace of one.
