Yes i self harm and i and attracted to punk rock things (and i know i'm gonna get a lot of shit for this becuz i usually do). But seriously does that make me a poser? I went shopping today and i saw this slightly spiked bracelet and my sister said "you're looking for attention". I don't look for attention, but rather i like to look unique. My family probably thought i was looking for attention the last time they found out. But tell me, based on what i've said here, do u think i'm poser or i'm just looking for attention? Don't lie please, lots of people call me a poser, i can take it

If you're really into that kind of stuff and like to look unique etc. then you aren't a poser. :)

Pretty much if you legit like it and find it cool or interesting or <insert positive statement here> then you aren't a poser. Posers pretend.

i get what your saying. No you not a poser. People self harm for different reasons. it's not lik you cut your wrist and shoved it into everyone's face. you did it because you wanted to. Do you.

I think attention is part of it. But before you call me out on that, there are varying degrees of it, and no, you're not an attention-seeker.

If you didn't want attention, you wouldn't dress like that. But there is a difference between people who dress in their style and people who dress ONLY to gain attention from people. The same thing with self-harm. I don't think there are many people who can seriously admit to not enjoying a tiny bit of the attention you get from self-harming. I'd be lying if I said I didn't like it. But again, it is only attention-seeking when it is the only motive behind your actions.

Dressing for self-expression will give you lots more attention than dressing in the same shit everyone else does. But it's attention achieved because of a good thing, instead of attention achieved for the sake of attention.

so many people dress like that to be unique, it's not unique. but that goes for any style. generally style matches a persons personality, so without knowing you, i couldn't make a sound decision. wearing punk style clothes, but listening to country music isn't sometime you'd expect and would be called a poser, especially if you tried hiding your true likes from others.

oh yeah, and a lot of people say anyone out of the societal normal is looking for attention. something i learned along time is this, if you know what's true, that's all that matters, you have nothing to prove or anyone to please, unless you believe in God.

I like to dress weird because I don't want to be part of the crowd. It's not really for attention. I just don't like looking like everyone else. And no, I don't think you're a poser.
