Right so when i cut i feel the pain...thats whats you'd expect right? However i read and a friend of mine who cuts told me that when you cut long enough you start to feel the pain less, because in cutters it releases endorphines..along with adrenaline and this can sometimes make you not feel it (as much im guessing) :)
Does this happen to you ? Cuz i dunno if i sound crazy but i kinda like getting the scarss..not to show off..but because it reminds me of what ive been through, and as stupid as it sounds i want to cut deeper, but i keep feeling the pain..i know its wierd..xD Do you guys feel alot of pain or does it fade the longer you cut ? and what do you "enjoy" the most about cutting the blood, the scars or just the pain ? (i know its wierd, i dont mean enjoy but what satisfies you bout it ?) I do cut as an emotional "get awaay" not just for the scars..im not like that :/ + Im trying to stop..was just intrested in what you experience..

For some reason, I only feel pain on my leg. Just below my hip. When I cut my arm(though I rarely do) it doesn't hurt though it's much deeper. I don't know if this has to do with our bodies but that's how it is for me. I stopped cutting for a while and now it seems to hurt a lot more. Before, I don't remember feeling much pain or if I did, it wasn't bad.
Now, however, I'm scared when I cut. Really, really scared. I mean, before I was scared someone would catch me but now after my mother finding out and having a psych talk to me about it. I'm even more scared of people finding out.
And it also depends how bad I feel. When I feel real bad, it doesn't hurt as much. In fact... I don't think it hurts at all. It only hurts when I shower. But I find the look of my blood flowing out relaxing. I know that sounds insane but it's relaxing for me.

No i think the sight of the blood actually realy relaxes some people..i felt a bit stupid posting it but i thought "what the hell" xD it is scientifically prooven that it does release endorphins :s How odd...i sometimes find that it hurts more with a specific blade..on my wrist with a sharpner blade it doesnt hurt..with say a razor blade it really stings, so much that i find it difficult to do :/ i have a low pain treshold at times :/

I don't feel pain in about 40% of my body. My left arm is completely numb unless I'm cutting. I can't feel it.
Do not cut deeper... it's not worth it.

Sometimes. It's been too long of a time since I last went on a carving fest or really did anything becides just simple scrapes that only hurt later so I can't remember correctly. I think some of it hurt later, some hurt then, and others I just didn't feel at all. Depended on where it was and what I was using and how I was cutting. Someimes if I just dug my nails into my skin it wouldn't hurt at all, but if I actually scratched myself it would.

I still feel pain when I cut, and my scars are fairly deep. However, the pain has gone down over time. I think i feel pain more AFTER than during, like while wearing sweaters and such to cover them.
As Hopegirl said, it depends on the blade for me, as some hurt way more than others. You can always try experimenting with different ones to find ones that hurt/don't hurt the most, depending on what you're looking for.

When I first started,I cut my leg,and now,I can go really deep and not feel much,if at all. But on my arm,(also depending on what im using) I can feel the pain. I love the blood, its a huge thing for me,the scars,I hate, but I dont want them to faid, because it feels like apart of myself is dying. I know it sounds stupid, but its like, what ive been threw,is being masked, taken. Im more into the pain when im extremely upset or angry. Where when depressed or numb,I favour the blood. So..I guess its up to my mood.

I cut on my upper. The first slice is the hardest, it hurts the most for me. Then I as continue to cut in the shape, it hurts less and less. I made a very small patch on my skin were i wanted to cut off all the skin. In this area which is about a 1/4 inch, I cut like 15 times to remove all the skin. That didn't hurt at all.
Blood will make me stop cutting. Because then I know i did it deep enough and then I have scars to look forward to in a day.

i cut cuz seeing the blood leaving me calms me n makes me happy, lil bit of life leaving me
keep with shallow cuts hun, deep ones are not worth the trouble

For me, at first I felt something, but it was to be expected. I focused more on the pain than my problems, and I hardly feel anything anymore...

It depends where i cut, some places like no pain others loads but where there's little pain its because i but there the most. Burn yeah over time iv found it hurts less ... bit of a shame really because i them want to go deeper etc.
On the kindof scientific view, pain and pleasure for the human body are very similar mechanisms and chemicals released etc and can be mistaken for one another (one reason why spicy food is so good). So your body can mistake pain for pleasure etc. Also yeah when you experience pain your body releases adrenelin and endomophins (if spelt right) and well yeah you can get a kick out of them. But i suppose its like anything, expose your body to it enough and you get use to the kick etc so you want a greater kick to get the same effect (reason why my coffees are so strong now...)

It only hurts when I cut my arm/leg hairs.
Other than that, don't even feel it.

I do it for the pain,it shut out everything else for a moment and it calm me down as long as the pain is there.so i have to be creative since the pain is faded almost everywhere,i had to switch from cutting to stabbing, worst desicion off my life

When I've been doing it often, I don't feel it at all. Next time I go deeper, I feel it, but then it goes away. And it just continues like that. You build a tolerance to it. I guess as someone previously said as well, the sight of blood is relaxing. As well, the point of the endorphins is to help with the pain. That may be part of it as well.
I hadn't cut for a while, and I recently just did again, and it hurt more than the worst of my cuts did. I really think a built pain tolerance is the main part of it.

yes, bt this may sound odd, but its a nice pain, it makes the other pain seem more bareable. x

I built up a tolerance. After awhile, I can slash my entire leg and not feel a thing... but if I stop then do it again, it hurts like hell. It really depends. For some people, it's entirely about the pain but not for me. I don't need to feel it for it to help.
I also have an incredibly high pain tolerance already so... *shrugs*

Yeah, it's always hurt me that's been the point for me. The need to hurt. It wouldn't work without the pain. If for some reason it didn't hurt no matter what I did then I'd find it a lot easier to stop.
However if I'm cutting consistently as in daily if not more I have to keep getting deeper because I stop feeling the shallow ones, so I have to cut deep instead.

I never remember it particularly hurting, probably because I always did it when I was so angry
if I felt numb, I'd try and make it as painful as possible to try and ..make me feel real again?
It doesnt hurt on my left arm anymore because I cut there too often.
Have the urge now reading this actually. Damn.

Sometimes I feel the pain, sometimes I donīt. If Iīm having a bit of an anxiety attack, all of my senses become kind of over active, and I can feel the pain quite vividly, and it calms me down.
If Iīm in a dissociative state, I tend not to feel it if my state is quite bad. I canīt feel anything, I cut, I still canīt feel anything, but then it snaps me out of my trance sort of thing, and Iīm back to normal. But sometimes my dissociative state isnīt bad enough to numb physical pain as well, and itīs the pain that snaps me out of it.
Also, my tolerance for pain has gone way up since Iīve been doing it for quite a while. If I do a really small shallow cut, Iīll feel it, but I wouldnīt call it pain, because Iīm used to deeper cuts.
Whether I feel the pain or not depends on a lot of things, and it varies a lot :P

I always felt the pain when I used to cut, but it didn't really feel like pain, if that makes sense. It was more of a relief. It's weird how pain can work as a relief. I also liked having the scars, because to me they were a sign of strength. I used to think cutting was a way I got through things instead of just giving up. But now that I realize cutting is not a healthy coping strategy, there are other things that I am proud of instead of my scars, and that bring me more relief.

I feel the pain, but not as much as I used too. Now, it is just more of a feeling than actual 'pain'...it does not hurt, it feels wonderful. The deeper the cuts, the more I gain this wonderful feeling. However; for me it is like a bar, I can reach the top and it will increase, allowing me deeper cuts with more wonderful feeling rather than pain. However, on a few occasions, I have gone past the top of the bar and felt real pain, that hurt. But even then, I didn't mind too much, because It was bearable, and I could turn it into something good. In other words, I like pain, and not just because it is a relief. I like how it feels.
