How do I pick up a guy?

I never really have before, I just know that I'm attracted to them. I want to explore a relationship with one. but don't think of this as some sick test that ends up hurting someone. I want to try dating one, then maybe, if I like him, he can be my out of the closet surprise. But first, I kind of need some pointers to get into this kind of dating world. 1) how can I be sure of a guys sexuality? I need to know this so I don't end up asking a straight guy and getting punched in the face. 2) are guys really different from girls? What would keep one interested in me? I dont want to send the wrong message and throw a bunch of sexual advances, but I don't want to play it too safe ether.

I'm willing to bet that I wouldn't have the courage to ask a guy "Hey, do you want to go out?" how can I word that more subtly?

same thing you do for chicks, wine and dine..

"would you want to have dinner with me some time" "do you want to go grab a beer"

as for finding out if there gay, you will know eventually..

im not gay, so i dont really know, but im assumeing its like asking a girl out..
