First off, just discovered this site..what a brilliant idea!

Hi, my name is Cody. I am a 16 year old male. I need some help with this girl I like. I have a lot of story to tell in this post so I just want to say thanks beforehand to anyone who reads it all and helps me out.

For here, I'll just call the girl I like Alice. Alice is about two and a half years younger than I am. She is also my sister Shelby's best friend. I've always had odd friendships with Shelby's friends to begin with because me and Shelby are so close and good friends. So, I've sort of been inserted into Shelby's group so to say. I'm friends with everyone that she is friends with as if they were friends of my own.

Now, Alice and her friendship with me is different from the rest however. It always has been for various different reasons. Becoming friends with her has taken longer, because she is extremely mature and I think she suspected me to be the average 16 year old "sex" crazed male or something. Either way, we've become the odd sort of friend.

Now, one day while sitting with her and Shelby and another friend it was blurted out by the "other" friend that I had a crush on Alice. However, the reaction was fairly light for what I expected. Alice laughed, and we spend an hour or more just making fun of me for it. A few days later, Shelby managed to convince Alice that it was all just a prank and Alice seemed completely un-phased.

One day about a month ago Shelby fell asleep after Alice came over and me and Alice spent all night watching movies and joking together. It was then that I really started to realize how much I really like her. I had thought she was pretty and such for a while but I started to fall for her personality, her jokes and wit, all that stuff. We were up from 1AM until 8AM together.

A few days later she was back over again and I decided to watch for signs she might like me back. I found that she enjoyed hitting me with random objects, mirroring my actions, and looking at me while she was talking even though she could have been looking at Shelby. However, she talked about different celebreties that she finds attractive and things like that too. So that threw me off.

Then Shelby fell asleep again and we ended up watching Anime shows until 9 in the morning again. The next day we were all drawing and she joking told me to draw her, so I did. She smiled and said "hmm" but looked uninterested.

The next time she came over Shelby fell asleep early, but even after she woke up me and Alice hung out in my office room watching youtube videos while Shelby went upstairs. Later we re-joined Shelby and got to talking about what kind of guys they like and what kind of girls I like. I avoided mentioning mine but Alice kept making the remark that even though she tended to like "emo guys" she felt that maybe "I'm being to picky..." and repeated that line a couple of times.

She came back the very next day and Shelby fell asleep like 5 minutes after she got here. We ended up spending the entire day from 10AM until 7PM alone. I offered to and eventually did make us lunch and we hung out on the couch watching anime again. When a guy in the show tried showing a girl he liked her and she didnt notice she said...

"She is so oblivious!"

I came back with, "They're always oblivious..."

Finally Shelby woke up at 7 or so and we hung out on the couch together. Shelby got a phone call and the guy on the other end asked...

"What are you doing?"

"Hanging out with my brother and a friend.."

"How old are they?"

"16 and 14"

"Is the 14 year old hot?

And Alice yelled, "I'M NOT SINGLE!" and laughed.

Later though she randomly said (while Shelby was out of the room)

"Actually I am single..."

Now here comes some interesting stuff. Shelby randomly got the idea to tell Alice that I had a crush on her again over a text message. At first Alice sent a reply making a joke about it again but later acted a little freaked out about it so Shelby gave in and tried passing it off as a prank again but Alice got a little ticked so Shelby managed to convince her that it was just as a friend and that Alice had taken her text the wrong way. Alice said...

"Oh, I thought you meant he "liked, liked" me, I'm so stupid"

When she finally came back over again, I at first thought she was avoiding me but eventually the three of us got together again and spend most of the next three days hanging out. I again noticed her looking at me when she was talking even though Shelby was right there listening too, and I felt like she smiled at everything I said. She also made some comments worried about how she looked and such...perhaps I should have taken the chance, but I resisted telling her she looked great.

Now that is all that has happened so far. Here are my personal opinions and more about the two of us.

My opinion is that she could like me, but I think just as a friend or more as Shelby's brother who she hangs out with too. I fear that she's just being polite and I'm just over-analyzing what I think are signs she might like me. She seems to be generally un-interested weather she's hanging out with me, me and Shelby, or just Shelby.

About me: I am a pretty quiet guy, and when I talk its usually a joke or something similar. I am good at listening to problems though, but she's never felt close enough to go "there". I'm 6'4'' and I'm fairly over-weight. I'm an old fashioned type and I usually dress in a button up shirt and jeans. I like old music and acoustic sorts.

About Her: She's loud and rather goofy most of the time but is actually very mature when it gets down to it. She is unconventionally pretty I guess, some would like her and some wouldn't. She has acne, but then again, those sorts of imperfections are the sorts of thing that make me like her even more. She's barely 5 feet tall and thin. She wears tight shirts or dresses and always wears jeans or shorts, or pajama pants. She likes hip-hop and emo music. She likes emo guys and such, which is not me.

The three of us will be going to a My Chemical Romance concert later this month, a band they like a lot...I dont. After that she has to go live with her mom about an hour drive away to go back to school...I'm just confused by the whole thing. Could she like me considering I'm not her type and over-weight? Why does she seems so un-interested most of the time but yet there be signs that I'm right? What should I do and how long should I take? How should I do it?

According to "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus" by John Gray

Men tend to assume alot, lets put it as a guy's point of view,
When a lady treats you in a more special way, for instance keeping little checks on you,
offering to do your researches for you..

Men will tend to think.. "I think she likes me".
But in actual fact, the woman is willing to do all these even for normal friends.

While in venus, ladies tend to worry alot more,
For instance
Woman : How is your day?
Man : Usual.

She may come to conclusion that he is not interested in her, and their imagination will likely run wild.

In summary, i would say, its ok to give it a shot to ask her out more often and get to know her better.
And sometimes when the feeling gets mutual, it just happens, most relationships i know dont really happen based on words, its just a feeling, and to an extend we dont really remember exactly when it started.
It just happened along the way...

Good luck,
*Pats*
P.S Do read that book if ya have the time to, its quite interesting.

Lol, the local fair was last night and I dare you to take a guess on who went and with who.

Anyway we all wound up together, and we wandered around the place talking about nothing or making fun of the red-necks. I had 10 bucks and somehow Shelby ended up with 5 and Alice got the other 5.

Anyway, when we'd meed up with my parents and stand there for a while, when it came time that Shelby and Alice were leaving again, Alice would say something like "Come on Cody, you're riding that with us." or something.

I did end up riding two things, which was good and bad considering I have a terrible fear of heights and fair rides. But it was fun.

She kept making remarks about how all the couples there made her sad and "lonely". But, she seemed extremely happy and laughed the whole time.

Then we walked away from the fair grounds and all sat down on the swing. We all (actually just me and Alice, (Shelby seemed really quiet) talked about school and the past and friend and bullies. All that crap. We also talked about weather guys who were mean to her, secretly liked her or if they were just jackasses.

After we left the swings the mood turned a little. She seemed disappointed and didn't smile as much. And I peeked at Shelby's phone while she was holding it and saw that Alice had sent a message saying "Life sucks". I didn't get to see where the rest of the conversation went. Still, she smiled a few times until we left.

Now for some quick notes on todays chapter.

- I find I'm able to look her in the eyes a lot easier lately, and I'm happy to find she's looking back at mine.

- A few times, when her and Shelby rode a ride and I stood out and held their things, she would look down at me and smile and act like she was scared. Then she would yell at me to get ready cause I was going on the next one.
