I don't like cutting but the effect. I like the result. The scars and the lines and blood, not the pain. Is it the same way for other people?

I'm sort of like this... at times. Though I tend to find satisfaction in the actual harming part as well. I feel like my scars tell what I've been through- and that I've survived this long. Almost like... they tell my story, in a way.
But yeah- I guess I swing both ways. I find satisfaction in both the act and the result.

Well i do like the blood and marks and am not "satisfied" if there's very little blood but i also like the pain because it makes me forget about everything that's on my mind but yeah i do see where your coming from.

For me i find satisfaction mainly when I am actually cutting, but I prefer it when there is more blood.

For me,it can go both ways. If there isnt blood,and the scar doesnt stay,i dont like it. I feel...almost cheated. But other times,when my emotions are super tense,I HAVE to have as much pain as possible,regardless of blood or scarring.

When I'm alone I feel proud of my scars and cuts. I just don't want other people to see them because they freak out and make me feel ashamed and guilty. But I do like cutting because of the release it gives me. The pain feels good when I'm depressed.

i like looking at the blood seep out and the scars but only if I had cut with a razor and my parents and boyfriend dont see them. This is common knowledge for it you dont want to have obvious scars but DONT USE PAPER CLIPS lol

I feel as if the pain isn't to be loved but as a punishment for my body and the scars are kinda of like positive reinforcement. So it's like beating the dog then giving it a treat. The blood too. I won't stop till each line has blood come forth.

to some people the pain is not necessarily why they self harm, I like the pain, cos it makes the other pain more bareable ... :/ but yeah it makes sense, the blood is also nice :) x

Yep I get this completely. Somtimes it is for the pain, and in effect is a mixture of both the process as well as the result, but I totally get it.

I cut for both, and the scars/lines are a big part of it. Probably more so that, actually. It's why it's so addicting. So, no, you're not alone there.

Yeah, I'm the same way as you. I love the aftermath, but doing it is so tedious.
