I would like to join the military as an officer when I am old enough for USA. But, I don't know what MOS but something to do with science or intelligence. I am starting 4.0 student in HS and will try to have above average grade in HS. So I need some suggestions about the MOS for pretty intelligen person. Thanks

You say you're starting with a 4.0, but does that mean you're starting as a freshman? Because if you are, you technically don't have a GPA yet; your middle school grades don't count towards your high school GPA.

Second, which branch do you plan on joining? You have the Army, Air Force, Marines, Navy, Coast Guard, National Guard, and they all have different operations. If you want to do something with science or intelligence reconnaissance, I'd suggest the Air Force because you can work in the meteorology field or if your vision is perfect, fly if you'd like.

Send me a PM with a more detailed description of what you want and I'll try my best to help you out. I've been thinking military for years, so I'm pretty good with this kind of stuff

Hey Captain94, thanks for the reply.Technically the national guards, and the coast guards are militias. Anyway I know Fresh year doesn't count, but I am taking 2 AP classes this year for sophomore. I will my best to do above average at HS. I don't know which branch To join. My dad is a Marine Colonel by the way. I would like to follow his foot steps by joining the marines but they don't have alot of the intelligence and science career. Air Force sounds good too. But I don't want to join the Navy and the Army.

You didn't specify which branch, thats why I added N/CG. So you said no Navy or Army, and you said that the Marines don't have much of a selection in what you're looking for, so what else are you thinking about other than Air Force? Have you tried talking to your dad about options? I know he's probably partial to the Marines, but I'm sure that if you ask him to help you out, he'll give you the information for other branches if it's what you want.

For school, it's good that you're taking challenging courses, but remember that colleges don't only look at grades. Make sure that you're active with community service and extracurricular activities that your school offers. Colleges today look at more than just perfect grades; they want to see that you care about yourself physically and that you care about your community.

Ahh I am working on my Eagle rank and my troop is the top troop in the district. We volunteer and do many good deeds to the community. Also I goto private school and in order to graduate, I have to volunteer for 60hrs. I already did 50hrs! I like to shoot rifle and I am On my way to being a sharpshooter. I'll probably look at Air Force for my branch. Since my dad is an officer, I tend to have above average advantage than others who are competing against me for college. I would like to try for USAFA

I was gonna say you might want to look into the AFA and then saw that you said it too. It's not a bad idea to try for it. If you don't get in, you can always go to a normal college with an ROTC detachment and become an officer that way.

I should say though if you're gonna look into the AFA, start as early as you can. They have summer seminars, you can look on their website, but they're for interested students who want to see what it's like to be there without actually getting accepted yet.

There is no ROTC unit in my school. If there were, I would have already joined it. But again I have an advantage since my dad is a military officer as well as he is a good friend with Congressman Essa of Cali. Also Eagle = outstanding leadership so I have a great stuff
