Do the math, take $100,000 of each pay... lets see. $5,000,000 savings right there, then the House of Representatives, 435 in the house, lets see cut their pay too. $43,000,000 in savings. $48,000,000 just in pay cuts! THAT'S what we could be saving! But wait there's more! Senate Leadership Majority Party Leader - $193,400 cut that down by 100,000..... then add that. Minority Party Leader - $193,400, do the same.. House Leadership, Speaker of the House - $223,500 Cut that down to $93,400, Majority Leader - $193,400 cut that down by $100,000, Minority Leader - $193,400 do the same.... $48,500,000.... look at that savings! just in pay cuts ALONE!
(if I did my math right) THEN end the BUSH era TAX CUTS there's millions or even BILLIONS in lost income with that in place! Oh, and lets get going on Social Security. there should be minatory drug testings, anyone who is on illegal drugs (besides for medical use) should be removed from it. Section 8, anyone who is caught abusing the system should be removed from that program! I'm sure there is many other ways to save too, all that unnecessary spending.

$50 million isn't shit. That's a molecule in a drop in the bucket of water that is the federal government's budget. There's absolutely no reason to complain about the salaries of legislators. It's not like $150k a year is some outrageous salary that everybody needs to bitch about.

I'll agree with you there, but it's kind of hypocritical how you complain about Obama "raising taxes," and then advocate raising taxes.

Or, you know, we could get rid of Social Security permanently and stop infringing on the privacy rights of citizens by giving out ridiculous mandatory drug tests, which punish them for victimless crimes.

There's no easy solution to the debt problem, simple as that. I think Obama has been doing well by himself and this is not his fault for it happening.

It costs more money to raise taxes than is made, usually, so that's not an option. You can't just cut the payroll of hundreds working in the government to make back a petty $45M. In order to fix this, the government needs to stop all military services overseas and cut unneeded jobs from any nonvital government position. They need to tax large corporations and finally stop the near-open market system there is now by imposing regulations that force large businesses to pay large percentages of profit per annum. Wal-Mart makes more than $3B a year...and that's just in America.

The problem mostly lies with the sheer number of debt and not the president. ALL countries are in some amount of debt, the US however has an astronomcal figure to deal with and it's not going to be easy.
The government currently spends around $10,000 per SECOND and they can't cut it to 0 because nothing will be getting done. In this case they need to spend money in order to make money; impose tariffs if you fucking have to, the US economy is too vital to allow it to fail.
