View Full Version : 2 hairs, one follicle...

Lately I've been noticing that there are two hairs growing out of one follicle in my pubic area. I shave frequently and I wonder if that's why this is. Also, is it a bad thing? I mean, there are a lot of double hairs in one follicle, it's not like it's just one or two. Why is this?

I have the EXACT same thing and I don't know why either. It doesn't seem dangerous at all, though.

I just recently got my pubic hair back from shaving it. The same thing happened to me too, and in like half of the follicles where it grew back. I don't know why, but I think its normal.

I'm not too sure, it seems it's ingrown hair or genetic.

I'm pretty sure it's because, after a while hair falls out and there are more than 1 that grow from the same spot (not necessarily the same follicle I don't think, but they're right next to each other) so that when 1 falls out, there's still another one in its place. Otherwise every so often all our hair would fall out and that would just look odd.

I wouldn't worry about it as long as it doesn't hurt or anything

Hair follicles normally go through a cycle. The hair starts growing slowly, speeds up then after a while slows to a stop. Then the hair falls out and the follicle rests for a while. After that the cycle begins again.

Two hairs from the same follicle probably means an old one from the previous cycle that didn't fall out and the new hair from the current cycle. If you shave this makes it more likely the old hair would not fall out as there isn't the weight of the longer hair to pull it, The new hair starting to grow could start to push the old hair out but for a while they may both be there,

I presume this is a normal thing.

They're most likely ingrown hairs, unless you happen to have a more serious skin condition. Your best bet is to get them taken care of and then stop shaving.
