but not like the chat room, as in with one person... so you could talk about more meaningful things. x

you can already do that. you can send an IM by going to their profile and the Contact tab

you can also use PM once you have 100 posts

Just ask if they have yahoo, msn ect or look on their profile under the contacts tab and send IMs that way

Look to the left of this post. See the skype icon?
Click it.
There you go.

On others' profiles and posts you will see up to 5 different icons.

To add yours, go to UserCP > Edit your details (http://www.virtualteen.org/forums/profile.php?do=editprofile).

...and on that page look out for the DOB changing thing mentioned in my signature ;)

But it already does? VT supports adding IM accounts.

You cannot personally change your DOB, you have to PM an administrator to do that :P

Even though it's not very descriptive in the rules, (Which is being fixed) You cannot send contact information through VM's, though you can direct someone to your Contact Info page on your profile. As TheMatrix said, just add it through the Edit Your Details page and you're good to go.

So admins can change my birthday?? I should leave this site, now!

Then the evil staff will not interfere with my life outside VT.

Because admins are all powerful : O

Ok, I should stop now.

theres a difference between adding links to outside im applications than using VT having its own IM thats the difference that the OP was looking for whether or not VT could have its own IM chat interface which is unlikely as for the cost and the modertators

Oh right! That's what was meant. My bad :P Still, the -rep was uncalled for.

No, bad idea.

OK, sounds good to me :)

Anyway, another point on topic, PM does this reasonably well anyway. While I see what the OP is saying, I feel that another form of communication is unnecessary and only gives staff yet another thing to have to moderate, and I can imagine moderating 20 IMs simultaneously would be interesting!

Yeah, you can see where my vote is...

You can use VMs for almost the same purpose.
Both of you set the option "Limit Visitor Messages to contacts and moderators", and add each other as friends. Not quite the same, but it would probably work.
Otherwise PM or use one of the existing methods.

And you don't have to follow the entry rules. You can put "[email protected]" in the MSN Field, if you'd like.

lol thomas you do make me laugh

but to the other guy it would be extremely hard to moderate ImS thats why we dont have our own chat room anymore because not only was expensive but we couldnt moderate it properly either it would be the same problem with I.m client i mean you cant moderate msn can you unless you save the chat history

Would the other guy be me?

VMs don't do the same job if, like me, they have to be approved before they are sent.

Ron, you're not supposed to tell them that! It's fear that keeps the newbs in line. Fear of your godly powers.

Dude, there's periods of time on here where there's 30+ Visitors Messages waiting to be moderated at a time. So can you imagine if it were really instant? That is insane. Visitor Messages, Private Messages and communicating with people that you know off site isn't enough?

@Mon Amie, I still have that ;) That will never go away no fear in these eyes ;)
