Guys in France

My family is taking a trip to France and we will have some beach time I think around Nice. I have heard that unlike American guys who get freaked out about wearing anything but board shorts to the beach European guys usually wear speedos. I wear speedos to lap swim at the Y. so I'm just wondering if I will fit in on the beach in France better in my speedos or board shorts?

im not from france, but why not take both? that way you can tell when you get there.

I am not from France, but I am European so. Like no one uses speedos where I live

take both, wear board shorts the first tim eyou go and if other people are wearing speedos, you do it aswell next time

Take both, go by a beach on your first day, then if there are guys around your age in speedos, you can wear those, if not, you still have your board shorts.

But also, When i was in The South of France in 2007, I was either in Marseilles or Villefranche. But we went by a beach and there were many women not wearing a top to their swimming ensemble, however, the ones we saw were actually only the women who you don't want to see without a top. But as the kids my age were still in school at the time, i can't tell you what teenage boys wore. But the swimming style in france is very different than in the U.S.

ETA: Also, the past two summers, a friend of mine from Belgium has come to stay with us, and he had board shorts to swim in. Wether or not he knew that boys in the U.S. don't usually use speedos for recreational swimming or not, I don't know.

i'd take both, but even if you were to take one and end up not fitting in, you'll probably never see those people on the beach again anyway :p

I'm not sure where you all live, but when I go to the beach, it's pretty much half and half with board shorts and speedos. And from pics that I see from other beaches in Cali and Florida, I see some sexy teen boys in HOTT speedos. Anyhow, take both!!

just wear a speedo under the boardshorts and see what others are wearing lol

Do you want to wear speedos ??? If so wear them if not don't. No one really cares.

Hey I used to live in France--I actually just got back 2 weeks ago! :( Sad... I'm trying to move back later though. Anyways...... Guys in france wear board shorts just like americans!!!! Its usually the older men that wear the speedos.

Yes of course some guys wear speedos, and its considered perfectly normal, but most wear board shorts so don't freak out. Their board shorts can sometimes be a bit shorter, but it doesn't really matter. Take the board shorts if your freaked out by speedos, take the speedo thing if you want a nice tan! :) Either way you will look perfectly normal. Hope this helps!
