There is a website called eightbit.me and it allows to create sort of a character version of yourself. Is it okay if I upload that as an avatar instead of an actual picture of myself?

Who's in my avatar? Not me!
As long as it follows the rules, it's allowed.
You don't even have to put any picture of yourself here if you don't want to.

What!? I've been lied to this whole time! I thought that was you!!!
Kidding (:
But yeah, you can use any type of avatar even if it isn't you.
Permitted: Pictures of yourself at the beach in a bathing suit – girls may be wearing a bikini top, guys may be shirtless. Pictures of yourself in a bikini(girls) or shirtless(guys) in your house with your face in the photo.
Not permitted: Pictures in ANY sexual position. Pictures of your body without your face Pictures in your underwear Pictures of other people in a bikini(girls) or shirtless(guys) without you in the photo. For girls; shirtless pictures of any variety.
Furthermore, the removal and allowance of pictures on the site is at a moderators discretion. If a picture is not specified in these guidelines, a moderator may still remove it. Re-posting a removed picture will be considered contempt for staff and will result in an infraction.
Those are the standards if you ever wish to post a picture of a person. And then, as said, any picture animated picture that basically follows those guidelines.
