Apple has more cash than the federal government
By Chris Moody
Who's ready for iAmerica?
As the BBC has reported, the software company Apple has more cash on hand than the United States federal government, according to the company's financial records.
Apple's quarterly financial report shows that the company responsible for the iPad, iPod and the iPhone now has $76.4 billion in reserve cash, while the Treasury Department is sitting on just $73.7 billion.
The feds could probably learn a thing or two from Apple's success. Congress remains embroiled in a debate over spending and whether the federal government, which currently owes trillions in debt, should be allowed to borrow even more. International credit rating agencies have threatened to downgrade the national debt for the first time in the nation's history if Washington doesn't come up with a solution to lift the $14.3 trillion debt ceiling while implementing a concrete plan to get the nation's financial house in order.
Meanwhile, Apple's financial report shows that the company's profits, even through the last recession, are booming

The US government has -$14,000,000,000,000. It took them this long to figure out someone with any amount of money has more money than the gov't?

Every great civilization has fallen within 200 years or so. This isn't surprising, to say the least. This is simply the decline of America. I've already expressed my thoughts on the next civilizations to overtake us, so there's no reason to say it here.

So true. It's sad that many Americans don't realize this.

Wow, that is very true. :c The sad part is that we haven't been a great civilization for a long time. (Historically speaking) The Romans got us beat.

Fact: Apple is the most valuable corporation in the world, explaining their fortune. Apple should bail out the US Govermnent (sad, and slightly ironic too), though we all know that's unlikely to happen.
That $1199 I have laying around is still paying for my next Mac :P

Bimmerhead take you!
Apple has more money than the government. So? Yeah this isn't normal, I agree but I don't see why you people make it such a huge deal. Apple does not have healthcare, education and military expenditures. Apple keeps producing new and better stuff. People are so stupid, that they will buy iPhone 5 just because of its "5", it won't have any big differences than iPhone 4. The same thing goes with their other products. Every minute they earn hundreds of dollars. It's not surprising.

Have you guys ever noticed if you go in an Apple Store they dont have anywhere to pay?
I was in a few weeks ago and a woman asked where she paid for something and the staff were genuinely surprised. x)

Apple should make something called the Ibail..with all proceeds going to the US government..wait..that wouldn't make it too attractive..how about proceeds going to poverty stricken children in America..and animals that don't exist

The local Capitol One Bank here got robbed twice in July. 3rd time in a few years, and the robbers get away eventually too. Seems easy around here. (lol)
Apple likely has special security devices, since they have all-glass storefronts.

No, that's not true. Look at Rome, or the Byzantine Empire, or Great Britain. I wouldn't call the last fallen, even to this day.

I would. In the early 1900s, the peak time for the empire, it covered around 1/4 of the total land in the world. The British Empire fell in 1997, when it was down to a fraction of that. Britain was overtaken by the US as the leading superpower. Nothing lasts forever. Already, the US appears to be in decline. Britain is no longer 'Great'.

Most people aren't 14.3 trillion dollars in the red....
But yes, even though it is a corporation is shouldn't own more in net worth than that of it's ruling government. Kind of scares me...

Nobody even knows where the money is stored. Surely theres not a billion dollars sitting in the stores.

Like I said, have you ever tried robbing a bank? That's the place where the money is stored, most likely.

Most of it is probably theoretical money in a bank. When you deposit money into the bank, they don't store that same money for you, it gets counted and you are then guaranteed that amojnd of money in the future. So there is definitely NOT billions of dollars lying around anywhere, unless apple keeps it all in a special vault on their campus...

Lol that reminds me, Apple just built some kinda info storage center in my area and 1) it is HUGE, and 2) they have so much security, like they built up hills with trees around the place so no one could see what it is and they have like security gates everywhere. Like if you drove past it you would never know it was an Apple hub. Pretty cool, imo.
