i want to talk to my best friend about puberty, but im afraid that he'll freak out at me. What should i do?

About all you can do is test the waters. Maybe hint at the subject somehow without outright mentioning it, and see how he reacts?

Just ask if he has hit puberty yet... that way you don't make him feel bad if he hasn't or if you havn't. I doubt he will freak out if he is your friend.
