I came across this topic: http://www.virtualteen.org/forums/showpost.php?p=1369106&postcount=1, and it reminded me of something that I had done on another forum, about a couple of years ago. And I wondered, if there would be a similar project here.
I post the rules and format, to see if anyone's interested.

Each member makes a list of his 50 favorite films, ranks them in a descending order and sends it to me as a PM.

The obvious format of the list is:
1. American Pie <----- Most Favorite
2. ...
3. ...

...

48. ...
49. ...
50. Friday the 13th <----- Least Favorite (out of these 50)

Your #1 gets 50 points, your #2 gets 49 and so on.

IMPORTANT: If you wish, you can submit a list with fewer than 50 movies, i.e. 30. However, in that case, your #1 will get 30 points, your #2 will get 29 and so on. That means that the points your #1 will get depends on the number of films your list includes (however, 50 is maximum). This is some kind of reward to those who will make more complete lists and not just throw a Top-5 or Top-10 with standard movies.

The point system is like this:
1. x points
2. x-1 points

...

x-1. 2 points
x. 1 point

The ranking criteria for each one, are PERSONAL, but it would be better to make your lists based on your personal tastes and preferences, rather than which film is widely considered one of the most important in cinema history.

I would advise you to make a quick selection of your 60-70 favorite films, and then focus on which films you want to include and put them in order. If you don't remember films you've seen, or you're afraid that you might forget any movie, you can visit the IMDB Top 250 (http://www.imdb.com/chart/top).

Whatever is on listed on the IMDB's database as a film (not a TV series or reality) can be nominated. However, don't suppose I have watched every single film, and thus it would be very nice of you to give me a link to lesser known films.

There would be a time limit to send lists. AT LEAST ONE MONTH. After that there is going to be a vote counting from which the 100 MOVIES that got the MOST points are going to be presented from #100 to #1. Other nominees are going to be mentioned, also.

Last, but not least. DON'T POST YOUR LISTS HERE! SEND THEM TO ME AS A PM, SO YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT THE OTHERS HAVE VOTED AND THEREFORE HAVE MORE INTEREST AND EXCITEMENT ABOUT THE FINAL RESULTS!

OK, so these are the rules.

Whoever wants to participate, don't set your lists yet, but post here first so we can see if there's gonna be a decent numbers of voters. I would say at least 15-20 members, so the results are going to be more accurate and not have films in the Top 100 voted by just one member.

In case we're going to have this project, it would be nice from a mod to have this thread sticky, so less frequent members see it and also have some kind of promotion. :P

Anyway, I hope I'm not becoming annoying :whoops:. It's gonna be a very nice and interesting thing to see with who we have the most common film tastes and also see what most people prefer here. So, I'm glad to hear your opinions. :D

Well, this.

I mainly said to post here that you will participate and your opinions about the project. NOT your lists. :)

I'm not taking any lists yet, cause I need to see more willing participants. ;)

Yeah, I'll participate, but I can't say I have a 50. I probably hardly have a 10 to be honest, I don't watch that many movies, but I'll muster the ones I can think of together.

They're all going to be given points based on where in the list of fifty you put them and then by the end he'll post a list of the top scorers.

I read it over and I get it all, but this is going to end up really shitty in the end. I'm pretty sure once it gets down to everyone's personal favorites the list will be nothing but really popular shit like Transformers. Like nobody is really going to spend the time to watch every single film on that list and vote for what's their favorite to make this list. I don't see anyone on VT spending their precious time doing that.
