How well do you like to know someone before dating them?

It depends. Before I date someone, they have to be my friend and I have to develop a platonic love for them first. (:

It's good to get to know them. but from personal experience don't get to friendly because you'll get stuck in the friend zone

Typically speaking, dating is what actually leads to the build up of the relationship.

I've gone on blind dates that lead to long lasting relationships, and I've been on dates with friends I've known for years only for us to realize it's silly and that it was just a fit of loneliness that brought us together. I really don't have a specific time set, I just go with what feels right and that can be anywhere from no time at all, to 5-6 years (not that I have a lust or love for them relationship wise, but it might take that time and for something to happen in order for me to see them that way.)

It dependes, I think there isn't a specific time...when you think you are ready, you start to hang out with that person :D

I don't think that love, or relationships, are something you can really plan. It just seems to happen, and you shouldn't try to control it. Haha I think you should at least know the person before you ask them out, but you shouldn't try to narrow it down to a specific time before doing it. "I've known her for 2 months, 25 days, and 4 hours...time to ask her out." Just go with the flow, bro :D

I don't care how well I know them, that's the point of dating- to get to know someone. The wonderful girl I'm going out with now I had met at a cousins concert once and, well, I started texting her and it led to us dating for about 3+ months now and it's still great.

Would I kiss or have sex with someone I didn't know well or didn't date? No. But that's a totally different question.
