As we all know if a man or a woman who is 16 haves sex with a boy and a girl at a lower age it’s considered "rape"
I think it is a time for change when this law is concerned. I think if 2 people agree to have sex even though 1 person is older I do not think it should count as rape and I do not think they should be put on the sex offenders register.
This is something that has played on my mind for a while. As someone my mother used to know once a long time ago and she told me this story. A man was this party it was a new years and he was not drunk but not far off it. And this girl aged 15 was flirting with him and they got talking and it lead to sex that they both agreed on. Know the girl’s mother found out about the sex and she got the law involved and there was a trial and they both said through the whole thing it was agreed but the man was put on the sex offenders register anyway. Now my mum knew this girl and supported her all the way through the trial so that how she knew about this.
So I think we should change it as if they both agree it’s not rape but it is still counted as being a pedo.
I am not saying that they should not get off scot free but just not put on that list as when most of us think this guy is on the sex offenders register we think he is a rapist and a pedo.
I know there are some down sides to this but overall I think it would be a change for the better or at least it would make it fairer
So do you think it is a time for change?

Yes and no.
The reason why this law is in place is it's a blanket law. In the US, the age of consent is 18, and if an individual at the age of consent has sex with an individual under the legal age it is considered rape, even if consensual, it's considered statutory. Also, if two individuals under the age of consent have sex it is considered statutory. Also, keep in mind the fact that statutory rape occurs on a state level and not all states have it. Also, in California, if convicted of statutory you aren't required to register. It's only when it becomes a felony that you have to register. (A felony is considered when the parties involved are 21 and older and 16 and under respectively.)
The reason why this is in place is because they wanted to eliminate the idea of "mental maturity." While some individuals might be more mature than others mentally, it's easier to base something on a blanket law. Sure, these issues should be treated on a case by case basis, however I think the state again finds it easier to take it as a blanket law. Whether or not it should be the states decision as to if a person is mentally mature is far too subjective to effectively be put into law.

Not sure where you're from but in Canada nationwide age of consent is 16. Now contrary to popular belief 2 people under 16 having sex with eachother the both of them won't get charged with BS rape.
Now even if you are 18 less a day and your partner is 16 less a day even though the person is under 16 in Canada there is a 2 year buffer zone, any more than 2 years and it's up to parents of victim to decide. There have been cases where people have been imprisoned based upon a parent is upset and the "victim" constantly tells the judge that it was consentual but the judge has no choice but to uphold the law
So for me I think the law needs to be revised and I think that the definition of a sex offender is retarded extremely
This one story about a guy got drunk and went onto the porch to take a piss cuz the bathroom was occupied and some neighbour kid saw his dick then bam he is a sex offender
I also don't like how all your personal info is posted online for sex offender registry, cuz then there are manhunt groups who feel they need to burn your house down

So long as there are Romeo and Juliet laws (laws which protect those with minor age differences) I feel these registers are appropriate. A 16 year old who has sex with a 6 year old should be on the sex offender list.

Er, yes they should. There is a certain age where children reach a level of maturity enough to make their own decisions, although this varies depending on the person, 16 and above is a good age where adolescents can decide who they should have sex with, when and where. Younger people can easily be manipulated into doing these things by older people even if they don't want to, and nominally you'll see them as a happy couple, but you won't be sure if the younger one is being tricked into something they're not ready for yet.
On a side note, is it really that difficult to find people your age these days?

I think all ages even past 16 can still be manipulated into sex. Just saying age of 16 makes it Ok. Sex offenders register should not be filled up with people who are 15 and someone is 16 and they have concented sex

Sure, but they're less likely to. That's where age comes in.
