1. It doesn't particularly matter what gear you use, you'll get laser weaponry on board that are technically much more powerful than anything, but I found the Chinese assault rifle to be extremely helpful
2. I honestly can't remember if you can skip it, I think it's an important part of the story, but you could always try just going to Rivet city and talking to DR. Lee, although you will be missing a great mission. You'll be fighting tons of super mutants on the way there anyway.
3. You do. Once. I wont say anymore.
4. There is a glitch where you can actually fall under the map and then walk into the citadel, but this will completely destroy a crucial story element.
5. The DLC isn't all that great. But I would strongly recommend getting Broken steel to forward your main save. That's the only crucial one to think about.... Then I'd say Point Lookout.
6. I don't think it's worth killing everyone, sure you can have fun. Just whatever you do make sure you have your save to go back to. If you want to do that why don't you just detonate the nuke? You could still use your house, yes. But i'm unsure if Rivet city becomes hostile too.
Fallout 3 is all set around what level your character is on, so enemies will gradually get stronger as you level up, this means that you could complete the DLC at LVL 1 if you wanted.

That's the only other way to get power armour training other than playing the story properly... Shame you're not interested in the story, I felt it was very deep.

No, you can't walk through the front door if that's what you mean, not unless you've reached a certain point in the story. You'll have to do the glitch.

I've come to a point where I just walk around the game in my underwear and vest, I'm hardcore like that. May I recommend the OP, and anyone else who would like help to this website: http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Portal:Fallout_3
I use Wikia for many of my gaming needs, mainly for achievement help but it has plenty of information for people who need help progressing games.

I platinumed Fallout 3 and did all the DLC on PS3 so I feel confident when I say I know almost everything about it.
1. The weapons on there are pretty damn good, but I got the alien blaster before I got the GOTY edition with the DLC and so that was great
2 You do have to help 3-dog from what I remember
3. 1 time
4. You just have to wait for the story mission to get it, no shortcuts
5. Don't do any yet, wait till maybe level 10 or higher then start off with Operation Anchorage then I'd say do The Pitt. Best story for the DLC in my opinion would be Operation Anchorage
6. You can't use the house but you are given a suite in Tenpenny tower providing you didn't do a certain deed for some ghouls.

are you trying to do all 3 for the trophies/achievments? If you are a better tip is to save when you're one level before the trophy then just do something to alter your karma
I suggest main playthrough on good, then make 2 saves for before the trophy/achievment then kill enough people to get nuetral then for bad kill more innocents to get to evil
If not then I just gotta say have fun, pretty damn good story if you ask me

Operation Anchorage to me was rather disappointing because there wasn't actually much story about the liberation of Alaska, plus the whole thing is set in Tundra, you don't see any civilisation. The Pitt was terrible in sense of stability, it was probably the worst for me and I was on PS3... I recommended Broken Steel because there was no stability variances and continued on the real story, plus level caps of 10.

He wasn't going to blow everyone the bomb, just kill everyone, the house would still be his, providing he already owned it.

I enjoyed Anchorage because it made me start a sniper character. The worst one was the Pitt, agreed.

Exactly my point, it was too combat based... All the DLC's seem to be simple run and gun add on's.

We should have a nude-patch DLC for Fallout 3. Seriously.
I take that fucking back. They don't have razors.

a few of u seem quite harsh on it im playing it on he 360 and so far i have not had a crash or a bug. I would like to mention i did go and kill the hole town of megaton with no problems. I used 1 shot from a fat boy and a assault riffle and took the hole town. The only gun i found good was the chineas assault riffle from the armoury so if the town was super easy for me does that mean il be okay with fighting the super muties alot of u have said stuff about the dlcs im going to play mothership zeta 1st than broken steel
and i have the goty edition got it for 25$
