Has anybody seen this movie? I watched it recently (though I should have gone to see it in a cinema) and really liked it. Everything from the metaphors to the subtle ending to the characters (although they were a bit weak) to the fact that it was all made on a shoestring budget. The effects were done on the director's computer, and they pretty much shot without a script and on location (usually without permission), which is why some of it is geographically incorrect and you can spot a few flaws if you look carefully.
I think it was badly received because it was accidentally marketed as a typical monster disaster blockbuster. So people went in expecting lots of action and got one of those slow, scenic movies (I think there's only about a minute's worth, if not less, of actual monsters in it). Not many people I've shown it to liked it, though, probably because they found it so slow that they completely missed the bookend. Some people also found the 'epiphany' scene ridiculous but I found it nice.
Of course, if you haven't seen it then you haven't a clue about what the hell I'm talking about. Well, watch it, and if you have already, then please share what you think.
