I had this talk by a world vision volunteer about the 40 hour famine today and this was about kids and families in east timor that they earn less than AU$1 about 50cents in us dollars a day and all they eat really is bark from trees and cook it 6-7 times to 'trick your body that your eating'. A journalist asked a 8 year old girl 'what's one bad thing and what one good thing' she answered I don't like when my grandmother leaves me at home in the dark to get food, I hear scary noises and the other answer was I like when my grandmother hugs me (the 8 year olds mother and father died of starvation and she's scared of people of touching her I wasn't told why)
World vision has a 40 hour famine that 30 people (including me) are doing, it can even be not using facebook,computer and so on but me I'm not eating and using the computer.
It starts the 19-21 august 2011 Im signing up on the net so I can get donations for these families and children.
ps I thought this will go under cooking and food you can MODS change the location if this is not right place?.
