View Full Version : What Album Are You Listening To?

I know there's a ton of topics available talking about favorite songs, but I think it's unfair to just look at a song and not look at the album to which it belongs. It often times meshes with the songs in the album creating something simply beautiful. So I wanted to create this as a great way for us all to share music with each other and discover some pretty awesome music!!
The album I've sort of been listening to non-stop right now is:
Thirteen Tales From Urban Bohemia by The Dandy Warhols (http://www.amazon.com/Thirteen-Tales-From-Urban-Bohemia/dp/B0027DJ92S/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1311627058&sr=8-2)
I provided a link to Amazon in case you wanted to sample some of the songs.
So, what album are you listening to?
Also, hopefully the inclusions of albums can lead to great discussions about them!

I finished listening to Riz Ahmed's ('Riz MC') 'MICroscope', which is darker than I expected it to be. The album could have done without 'Hundreds and Thousands' though, because that was terrible and annoying.
The album I've had on repeat for a while now is Grand Hallway's Winter Creatures. I like it a lot as an album. Otherwise, I've also been listening to One Tonuge by Birdlips.

As of right now, I'm listening to Age of the Fifth Son by God Is An Astronaut. But two albums I listen to a lot are Blue Sky Noise by Circa Survive and From Fathoms by Gifts From Enola.

Why listen to an album if you don't like some of the songs?

So as I was surfing Cracked, I came across something I probably should have noticed.
Apparently OK Computer and In Rainbows are complementary with each other and there's even something called the 01 And 10 playlist. It could be some stupid conspiracy or something but it has lead to a pretty awesome playlist.
For those who are interested. (http://puddlegum.net/radiohead-01-and-10/)

I read that cracked article yesterday (and I've read it before). It's pretty cool, was well as the thing with Tool's songs.

I wasn't really big on Fundamentally Loathsome or Posthuman. They're ok,just don't really like them. But I'm not going to ditch the whole album over a few songs I didn't like that well.
Oh and now Beauty from Pain by Superchic.

Thanks for this. I've never understand people who just listen to songs individually. I love listening right through an album (I like shuffle as well, but I mean the people who buy one or two songs from an album and then rave about the artist). Songs themselves can be great, but there's nothing like a well-crafted album.
Recently? Ehmm. *checks her last.fm* Black Mirror - Arcade Fire, though I've had that one for a while. Bring Me the Workhorse - My Brightest Diamond. That's a new addition to my library that I've been listening to a couple times.
I always revisit Marilyn Manson as well (only bringing that up because SecretSalt brought him up). Of all the artists I listen to, no one does full albums better. I learn more about the story the more I listen to them, forced to think about something different every time. Which is exactly what art should make you do. Holy Wood namely has been one of my favourites of their albums, followed by Mechanical Animals.

Body Talk by Robyn.
Something about Robyn makes me love her. While her lyrics aren't the deepest, they do speak a very nice message. And the fact that I can simultaneously cry and dance to her music is beautiful in some odd disastrous way.
