The tax payer funds the BBC now the BBC is based in the UK.

My question is since we do pay most of the BBC funding should we get more of a say in what shows we should have on it.

The reason i say this is the BBC show some utter shit programs like dancing on ice and river city and doctor who but they cancle good promising sci-fy shows like outcasts and other rather good shows

So should we get more of a say in what comes and goes in the BBC

im ahppy with the shows they show. we do have a say also, just not too often. also, how do you expect 60m r so people to decide on what goes on tv? its logisticaly impossible..

Sorry i meant more of a say i mean its just they show rather rubbish shows and dont listen to what people want to see more of. i mean they reply to fan base emails sometimes when people are talking about the shows but they never put up any kind of public opinon poll or anything they always go by "ratings"

If you don't like it, nobody is forcing you to watch it.

You can get input on it. But it's either a yes or no input. If you don't like what they're showing, you can boycott it by not watching it. That's the simplest way.

Your coal is somebody else's gold. More people obsess over Dancing On Ice than sci-fi programmes at the end of the day. Most tax-payers seem to think they are the only one.

Why shouldn't they go by ratings? How else are they supposed to know how many people are watching what show? Really, the best way to find get certain shows off the air is to not watch them so that the networks will have no choice but to cancel it.

On a side note, in America, Cartoon Network would have a program where you could see new 7 minute cartoons and use their website to vote on which of the cartoons become brand new shows.

Ah but now a-days people are viewing programs in diffrent ways not just on the night that it is first on air people buy the dvd series .... Watch via the net...record...just by going whats on the night is rather poor way to judge now a-days

That is a good point. The networks should really take Internet downloads and Internet streaming into account.

They dont take other sales and recordings ect into account they just go with whats shown on the night...what if a show has real potential but get cancled because it is on at a bad time like i.e 9pm sunday night ----that is not a good time for a syi+fy to be on..So people record and download and then buy the DVD set...but this does not get taken into account

If you don't like it, educate yourself about its legality, prepare for a bit of a battle and stop paying it.

Either that or as has been mentioned, realise that unfortunately the majority do like the turd they pump out and that the beeb won't really be starting some revolutionary democratic broadcasting schedule any time soon.
