I doubt 108. I'm just saying how they're going to configure their servers. It'll be a bottomless pit of money to keep them going. If it's really going to be that many people using it, then the servers will slowing wear down and slow down to the point we they'll just buy more. I don't see the point....

its called wireless G, and wireless g routers have a connectivity of 108 mbps.

the spee dof my internet isnt 108mbps after the router and the wireless transmission, but the wlan is 108bps. the cable max b4 router and wlan is 100mbps.

i have a dell axim X30 that works on wireless internet with my wireless cable

and the connection through the pda is like dileup but a bit faster

it all depends how they built the DS

if it was built good the connection will be fast and flawless


now they need to make it connect with sell phones or somthing so i can play online while driving down to NC from NJ

Yea, wireless can be 108mbps......
But you can't connect to the internet that fast, it's really useless unless your moving large files in your personal network. Good news though:
Verizon will be putting down fiber optic cables(to those who want it) for internet, TV, phone etc that will have 10Mbps internet. It is in some places already, but it wont be in my area for another year or more :( :x .

I'm not sure what standard is 108mbps. 802.11b is 11mbps and 802.11g is 54mbps but maybe super G is 108 mbps. You can have a 108mbps network, but the most you'll get off you cable modem is 5mpbs down and maybe 500kbps up. So your internet is actually whatever you are getting from your cable/dsl modem but your local network can be as fast as therouter says it is.

Cable is no where near 100mbps, but you can think that if you want.....
I think you got your speeds switched, im pretty sure its 5mbps up and 500kbps down depending on your modem, you can get 712kbps(even though it goes up some and down).

A 100mpbs line to the internet is going to cost >100 dollars a month. You can have as fast of a local network as you want, but it ain't gonna speed up your internet. And you also have to consider that when downloading something, your download speed is only going to be as good as the upload speed of whatyever you are downloading from. For example, if you are downloading the latest web browser from mozilla, and you have a max of 5mpbs and they only have upload of 100kbps, the most you are going to get is 100kbps download from them.

768 Kb/s DOWN and 128 Kb/s UP
1.5 Mb/s DOWN and 128 Kb/s UP
2 Mb/s DOWN and 192 Kb/s UP

High-speed cable modems:

2.5 Mb/s DOWN and 192 Kb/s UP
3 Mb/s DOWN and 256 Kb/s UP
4 Mb/s DOWN and 256 Kb/s UP

Server cable modems:

2 Mb/s DOWN and 3 Mb/s UP
3 Mb/s DOWN and 5 Mb/s UP
5 Mb/s DOWN and 8 Mb/s UP

**Most cable modems today are indeed Full-duplex and do not slow down when transfering data by such means.
If your ISP only has Half-duplex service, then download speed should have slightly higher capabilities BUT probably wont operate higher because of the priority of the DNS/WIN and FTP server connections.

... and one more thing - Dont get DSL PPPoE unless its ur last and only choice other than dial-up (the MTU is only 1492 and will disconnect if fragmented packets keep coming in because u have the MTU set at 1496 or 1500)

and btw, most of u are probably getting confused with Kb/s being Mb/s... theres no way that wireless internet is 100 Mb/s + because that would be an enormus strain on the servers, and would be nearly impossible due to the fact that wireless devices (unless emulated) can only recieve a max of 10 Mb/s down and 5 Mb/s Half-duplex.

aside from repairing and tuning computers, I also configure local networks and route looped services though areas so emulated remote access can be used. trust me, I know what I'm talking about :)

They local network is 100mbps, but their internet ain't. I'm getting about 4 down and 512 up and I have 100mbps wired network and 11mbps wireless.

yeah, sounds exactly right. Local Area Networks (LAN) is not the same as the internet

Umm. WLAN/LAN operates at any maximum speed that its hardware supports... if you have gigabit switches, hubs, and/or routers... then ONLY your WLAN/LAN can go 1GB/sec. However, wireless standards only can go as fast as 108MB/sec... the slower the wireless, the longer the range it can extend to.

Your ISP themselves is the bottleneck: the internet service that you get... is what you get. 1mb download / 512kb upload? You'll get around half that if on DSL... but on cable, you'll get much faster.
