Being a seventh grader genetics is not a class I am able to take :P. I was wondering what the best way to independently study genetics would be.

Yes I've already tried this, but you see the thing is that it gives me a wikipedia page (unreliable on its own) and uses large words that I have yet to understand. Perhaps someone could recommend a book?

Buy yourself some biology textbooks that cover genetics and read them. I studied it briefly in grade nine at school.
Try Human Genetics: Concepts and Applications or you can just browse around and find what's best for you.

Wikipedia isn't unreliable. And if it uses big words, there always something called a dictionary (http://dictionary.reference.com/). If you use Google Chrome, there's an extension for one, also. And if you're going to be stubborn and not use Wikipedia or actually look through the internet, then just buy something off of amazon (http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&field-keywords=genetics&x=0&y=0). Also, anything science related is going to have words you don't understand. That's what learning's all about, anyway.

You could try calling the high school and ask if they have any books you could borrow on genetics. A lot of 7th/8th graders at the middle school did that for my high school with math books because they wanted to get ahead.
Also, you can just wait 2 years and take it in high school. It's not that long of a wait.

Genetics is actually pretty simple, once you have a basic understanding of biology.

There is wikigene (http://www.wikigenetics.org/index.php/Genes_and_Their_Properties) that's dedicated to genetics.
Genes are polysaccharides aka sugars. Can you believe it?
