Reason for posting this thread?

But well, yeah with that experience it'll probably be scary like a bitch to do it again. How did it happend? Like.. where you just out swimming?
Though you shouldn't stay out of the water because of it, just.. Take it easy and don't be alone? I guess?

my post turned out being wiiiiierd.. or something?

Well hun let me put it this way, if you burned your hand on the stove, does that mean you're not going to use the stove again? Of course you will use it again, you just have to face it head on and do what you gotta do.

So with the swimming gig, I know that it was a very terrifying experience just like any near death experience, but don't be afraid of water. You just have to take it using caution. It's like someone getting into a serious accident, but then saying I won't drive again or getting kicked off a horse. In order to over come this fear, you have to face it head on. So instead of having a negative view about it, take someone that really knows how to swim and start in the shallow end like you should have to begin with. You can't be Tony Hawk before you know how to skate.

I remember when I first began skateboarding, I started at the top of my old driveway and went down that shit full speed and landed on my ass, I got pissed off and said I never want to skate again, but instead I used that as motivation to get right back on and learn and get it right. You just have to be safe hun. Go with someone that knows how to swim and start in the shallow end. Much easier and you can get your barrings better. Good luck and I hope this isn't the end for you swimming.

I agree 100% with Ronnie.. If you don't succeed at first, try again.. You may not get it the first, second or third time.. But sooner or later you'll get the hang of it..

You'll get the hang of it if you really wanna try
I never really almost drowned..I was afraid though when I went down a slide with my dad after him and he grabbed me when he didn't see me rise (I didn't know how to swim then)

Glad to hear you're OK. Scary as hell I'm sure.

Definitely swim with a buddy. And keep trying to learn. Maybe just stay at the shallow end for now. Best way to make sure it doesn't happen again is to make sure you do learn to swim.
