There were no weapons of mass destruction because if there was and years later america the most powerful country on the planet STILL can't find them....well.....thats just embarasing and pathedic to an unimaginable level.
So there is no weapons okay accept it
There is absolutly nothing anyone can do about it now it happened, I think its rather pathedic that theres still car bombs going off all the time, the amount of friendly fire; like the canadians that were murdered in cold blood....If you want me to level with ya I honestly don't care I never knew'em its someone elses husband some other lil kids big daddy that got blown all to hell by a supposedly allied solider not mine.
People die all the time (I know i've barried many)
Countrys fall it happens hell look at the soviet union it colapsed in the early 90's.
Matt I don't care if sum guy takes a nuke and levels New York, Mexico city, hell they can blow B.C and Alberta right off the face of the planet leave nuthin but a huge ass crater uninhabitable due to radioactive fallout which would then cause the the koreans to see an opertunity they could not refuse which would inturn cause the russians, the chinese and the United Kingdom to go to def com 1 which would inevitably lead to a nuclear winter and the death of the entire human race along with everyother living thing on our planet. Because our counrtys are all lead by minipulative, power hungry, greedy, cowardly politicans and trigger happy admirals.
This is us....This is so called "humanity"

Pretty much. Democrats=carebears. :DUm...there were no political parties back then. There weren't until Washington left office. And technically, the Republicans of old traced back to the Democratic Party.
I'm a Democrat. I'm a moderate. I lean more towards Democratic beliefs, but not all of them. I could name a few candidates I would want to run from both parties. Not many, but a few.

but then again democrat stood for different things when those people were in officeSo did the Federalists, National Republicans, and Whigs. Times change, though.
I know that the Democratic party has gotten worse. But so did the Republicans. They were forever, and will be, scarred with Watergate. Both have technically gotten worse since the days of the Westward Expansion (except the Democrats...their height was during the Great Depression). The Republicans lost some ground with Watergate, but they were able to gain it back.

Uh, Sean, please calm down ^_^;;
But he's right. Who would want to fight in a war that's based on false intelligence (that some say was rigged...I think the BBC has an article about that, don't have the link though)?
Wow, saying we're pussies, eh? That's a real original thing, considering that I don't remember that happened during 'Nam.
Yeah...let's see all of those senators jump up, ready to pick up an SMG or some random sniper rifle. Let's see Condy pick one up, then I'll go into submission.
Given the war was ACTUALLY necessary, and that the US was running out of troops, I'd gladly pick up a Desert Eagle, an SMG, and a frag grenade or two and join the fray. I have loved ones here that I need to protect.
The last truly war that was truly necessary was for this country to go on was WWII. Well, that was for the free world, in retrospec. Don't even count the Persian Gulf, because that was some random battle. Even though I do like the idea, was the War on Terror NECESSARY to go on? We could certainly survive. We'd live in fear everyday and put warnings up for about 20 years till we get internationally attacked again, but our country CAN STILL SURVIVE.

let me get this straight: did you just say you'd rather sit and do nothing until we get internationally attacked again, killing thousands of innocents, and then still do nothing? all this opposed to just going into iraq like we are now? your an idiot, you just openly wished for terrorist attacks on america and acknoledged you wouldnt give a shit. way to go, asshole. you know what our country can also survive? pussy shits like you who complain about the war and everything we do
Gothic_Knight
May 22nd, 2005, 01:43 PM
Whoa, you've taken everything out of context.
The question was "Is this war truly necessary to have the basic principles of our country survive?" Now, can our country survive if we get a terrorist attack? Yes. I'm not opposed to all of the War on Terror. I support it...to an extent. They screwed us up, and we have to serve them back, but not go invade random countries whenever we please.
Now, if we were attacked, could our country still prosper? Madrid got bombed, and they haven't plunged back into the Dark Ages. And look at Germany. They had debts of WWII and WWI to pay off, yet they still remain one of the most powerful countries on this planet. One setback will not harm a country that much. Many setbacks, yes, but one? Odds are against that idea.
In the beginning, I supported Bush. He retaliated the right way to the 9/11 attacks. Then I learned other things. I learned about the memo where the government could've stopped them from happening, but they didn't. I learned that the federal defecit was getting larger. Guess what that means? We have to pay it back, or we'll face an economic crisis reminiscent of the one we first suffered under the Articles of Confederation. The national debt is already the largest we ever been. That's just going to plague us when we get older. And then came Iraq.
He went in there without letting the UN finish their job. He wanted to finish what his father couldn't, plain and simple. He took the country off of the real danger, Osama bin Laden, and focused the central threat on Iraq. Osama's still out there, scheming away. And we have the asshole Kim Jong-Il in North Korea, who we should've been finished with long ago. And now there's Russia, who's starting to back away from the democracy they started. Soon, unalienable rights will become alienable, all around the world. It has started. It's unavoidable. We'll just have to sit back and wait for WWIII, with North Korea as our main threat. We had our chance, we blew it, we now have to face the facts.
And it seems you have a fancy for comparing the word pussy with a democrat. In reality, we're all pussies, as you say, in some retrospec. It's impossible to not be afraid of anything. You can call me a pussy for being too shy in public. That's one definition. You certainly can't call me one for being a rifle-toting man who's a pretty good shot, now can ya?
nwshc
May 22nd, 2005, 02:05 PM
You right, the war wasn't necessary. We could still survive without it. And we would probably be in less debt without it. But, If we did not have this war, i can guarantee you that we would have been hit again, and most likely again. What is it, 2,000 soldiers have died? Well if you think about it, if we did not go to war, there probably would be thousands more civilians dead. People would be outraged that we didn't go to war and could have prevented these catastrophic deaths. As a result of this war:
A ruthless dictator is in prison. A dictator that killed thousands himself.
Many, many terrorist have died or been captured. Which if this war didn't happen, they would all be running around to do as they pleased.
Yes i do admit that Bush could and should be doing a better job. He has proposed a bill that would allow him to keep troops over there for 2 more years and to get an extra 20 billions dollars i think. That is despicable. We should not occupy their country for another 2 years. Just too long and nothing would get done. And 20 billion dollars, that could go to so much more, like social security. We should be focused on rebuilding Iraq, and getting the hell out of there, and going back to normal and focus on domestic problems.
I would rather go to war than have thousands more of our citizens die. That's just what i think.
Gothic_Knight
May 22nd, 2005, 03:02 PM
You've got a point, but you also have to think. Our troops are civilians as well, not just machines that can be easily replaced. The same lives that he are trying to protect through his pro-Life stance are being lost overseas as well. This is where the conflict comes in.
And as another thought, I don't really care if you call me a pussy because I'm soft on war. I'm a Catholic, and I don't believe and killing people to solve problems, not this way, anyway. I like to follow it more of Hammaurabi's way: "An arm for an arm"

Heh, sorry about him. He basically just likes to act like an asshole to everything. Really. Especially that one fic he wrote...Sir Bon Bon goes to Iraq. It makes absolutely no sense, and is pretty funny.
And about your other question: Yea, you're right, but I still view a kill as a kill. Enemy or ally, someone dies. This is purely about opinion, and you can't change someones. IMO, this was senseless, because the amount of force we took could've been a lot less. Many lives would've been saved if we just would've let the UN finish their work. That's the only thing about it that bothers me. War is usually justified, but when I saw the final report of US intelligence that there were no weapons, and that we decided to overrule the rest of the world's advice, that just got me pissed.
If it was something dire, like something to the extent of the Holocaust, then by all means, yes, go in. However, if it's something in this instance, where you now have reports that intelligence both from Britain and the US is rigged...then we have a problem.

Paleoconservatives - This group has a blue-collar, populist tinge with a strong distrust of a centralized federal government, and has heavy appeal among rural Republicans. They are conservative on social issues (e.g. support for gun rights) and oppose multiculturalism, but favor a protectionist economic policy and isolationist foreign policy. Many are also active against illegal immigration, or even all immigration. Prominent paleoconservatives, such as Pat Buchanan, have spoken against NAFTA and what they see as a neoconservative takeover of the party. Some with similar views are in the Democratic Party.
