View Full Version : My Autodesk stuff

So a while ago I got this new laptop, and I remembered that I have this 3-year student license to Autodesk Inventor 2012. So I downloaded the 3GB file and installed it and stuff.
I decided to play around with it for a bit. I've made better things at school, but I forgot to put those files on my USB. Silly me :P
Anyways, this took me about 10 mins or so to throw together:

Not very impressive, I know. I just haven't used it in a while.
I attached the Autodesk files, if anyone wants them.
What do you think?

So I need some ideas. Inspire me. Don't make it too difficult - I'm only a beginner :P

Try to draw the pacman ghosts. (: (I find them cute for some reason)

EDIT: Alright, done!
Attached are the autodesk files, in case anyone cares to use them.
They are for Autodesk Inventor 2012 only, I'm afraid. But here's the picture:

Any other ideas? I could also make the yellow one, if you'd like.

Hahaha how cute! ^_^ You should try drawing something a little more complicated for practice. (:

Mmmkay, what?

I don't know if this counts as "more complicated" but try to draw like the sun in the sky or a cloud or something... Maybe a flower? (:

Hmmm, I'll try the cloud....

Okay (: Good luck

Meh. I was feeling too lazy to make a cloud. So I made a box instead.
An animated box. Now Autodesk makes shitty videos when it exports, so you'll have to deal. And about the files: nobody seemed to want them. So instead of wasting myy attachment space, just PM me and I'll get them to you. Yes, PM, I don't give these to n00bs anymore. Sorry.

Dude, don't bother attaching the autodesk files, we can't open them. How expensive is that program again?
I made a train, with a track, on the program. Multipieces, used an assembly to put it together. You can get pretty intricate with it if you want too... Sorry, no screenies, left it on the computer at school and it's probably been deleted by now.
Make a boxcar.
(Or if this decription helps, a hollow box with windows)

Looks cool i dont know what autodesk is but from the looks of it it looks like a 3D model and texturing program like one used to make the models in video games.

I have no idea, but I got it for free because my engineering class last year had some kind of promotion or whatever, so all students in that class got a free 3-year licence.

Cool! You're probably better at Autodesk than I am, I only know the very basics :P

Not really for games, but more like products. If you were a professional at it, you could design one of those robotic arms that put cars together or something. The possibilities are seemingly endless.

It look prity basic to me. But this is coming from a pro, do you use auto CAD?

I'd say it's pretty good for something made in like 10 minutes.

What do you mean by that?

No, I use Autodesk Inventor Professional 2012(phew!)

A year-long course basicaly using Inventor exclusively does that :P
Maybe later....
Hey, you said suggestions :P

Hey, It's cool to see other engineering students on the site haha.
One of our projects we did in class was to reverse engineer a household object and get it to a functioning state in inventor. You could do something simple with that such as a toy?

It would be illegal to just download it....
I didn't have to pay one cent(my middle school bought something like 33 licences(and then some) and probably got a discount), as they gave each student a free 3-year licence.
