I posted a thread awhile back called The gap between rich and poor in school and freinds..http://www.virtualteen.org/forums/showthread.php?t=106894
So i got a lot of mixed responses to this thread but now i want to narrow it down and pick a topic that was touched upon in the thread
Should money matter?
This is my answer
Money should not matter as it is only personality that count. Sure money we need it to buy food and clothes and shellter...But does it really matter at the end of the day? , No their is much more better things in life than money
So i ask Should money matter?
(p.s Please read some of the old thread first to get an idea of the genaral responses and more info on this area/topic)

Imagine trying to feed kids and keep the house even remotely warm in a harsh winter without at least some money.
Besides, even if you do have more than you need, you can always give money to those who need it more.

I think what Derri is saying..and you can tell me if I'm wrong...is that Yes you do need money to keep the lights on and for food and stuff..but that the whole goal in life shouldn't be money and how much you have or how much someone else has and treat people different because of how much they have in their wallets or something.

Money shouldn't matter and friends shouldn't judge each other by their wealth. That's what most of us want, but unfortunately that is not true in most cases. Everywhere you go, the rich is always treated better than the poor. At stores, people use clothing to judge what social status one is in, and then treat the person according to his wealth. There may be exceptions, but that is just my observation.

Without some form of currency the world would be anarchy, yes money does matter.

Exactly. I don't see those saying that money doesn't matter not relying heavily on its buying power to support both themselves and others.

Yes because we can then use it to help others and provide better funding for services such as the national health, police, better schooling, etc. It would be foolish to disregard what great things could be done with better finance.

There are things in life better than money, but you do need it to survive in modern society.

I suppose its the type of person you are and what you want out of life. In terms of a spouse I dont believe it does. In my eyes the only way I will ever be financially successful is if I achieve it myself. I wont rely on having a significant other with a good job making 6 figures. Im no gold digger lol :D

Of course you believe that. Since someone like you wouldn't care about helping society with what disposable money you had and you can actually take pleasure out of simple things like annoying others even when they are not vulgar first (why else would you be forzen, LOL), you wouldn't think it would matter because you'd have no idea what to do with it.

Guessed that. Of course, those who did give two shits about society would like the idea of having more money with which to better fund businesses who could really do with it for the good of society. But like I said, why should you care? Because all the good you could do (another example could be flying out to third world countries to provide physical aid) with money doesn't matter right?

I hope that it is not too late to post an reply,
I think that there is an love affair with money and always will be and that people are always going to buy into the delusion that money buys happiness and that it makes all of your problems go away.
On one hand, I tend to think when people say the want to be rich , they are talking about a lot more than money, I tend to equate it with power and freedom and if we are honest we all want to be wealthy. Some people are more fortunate and encounter more opportunities and know how to use those opportunities to get rich.
On the negative, to be blunt, the love of money( and power) cause us to treat each other like garbage and exploit others.
Just my 2cents, take from it what you will:D
