After further discussion, this can be opened as long as there's no drug promotion.

It varies from person to person. For instance the reason I do not smoke much pot is because I tend to just fall asleep... Pretty boring since I can do that legally and it's less expensive.
Mostly the thing people like about it is it lowers all of you inhibitions. For example you think the dumbest things are great ideas, you think the dumbest jokes are hilarious, etc. You could say all your standards are lowered and you think less about what you say. People sit around and laugh a lot, so they like it. (This is ALL hearsay. What I said can not be taken as fact and you should not choose to do marijuana based on what I think.)

The first time I tried it I noticed no effect, though admittedly I didn't have that much. The second time it just made me laugh easier/more than usual. If I had paid more than I did for it, I would have said it was a waste of money as it wasn't overly great and I could have had the same experience with certain friends without spending the money.

It ain't great. Imagine feeling very relaxed, very stupid and laughing at everything anyone says. Not to mention the sense of having sage-like wisdom when you're actually just stating ridiculous truisms. I'm not suggesting you try other drugs, but there are better ways to fuck with your brain instead of weed. Marijuana is not a "safe" drug. Truly.

I suffer from alot of chronic pain and migraines. Well, marijuana fixes all of that while still allowing me to relax and fly in my own mind.

Honestly.... It's nothing special at all. I mean I tried it just to try it and all it did was make me sleepy and I wuz less focused on things. I quit months ago cuz it just added nothing to my life... It's your decision to try it or not, but don't expect somelofe changing experience lol. Honestly I enjoy being drunk more!

I really think no one has ever quite actually hit on what it's like (lol no pun intended). It's not just that you feel really good or tired, you feel like you're in a completely different universe or a dream, perception is changed. It's really just hard to explain, it's a lot more than just "Euphoria" or "sedation". Often times for me(not sure if this goes for most people) everything appears kind of wavy and moving, and I often get the sensation that my whole body is tilting back and forth, sideways, however I've had a person tell me that I don't move like that in reality, so definitely a bit of head fuckery afoot.
Often times for me when I sit down it's almost like the thing you're focused on is the only thing in the room and you couldn't notice anything else unless it's actually moving or makes a noise.
It's basically impossible to explain without you having tried it, but I can't tell you to. So I'll tell you not to. But trust me, you don't just feel happy or tired, you feel completely different, almost like a dream.

Short answer: It depends.
There are two major subspecies of cannabis (and a third that is completely useless unless you want to breed plants that need minimal sunlight). The Sativa subspecies is generally more focused on a lower bud density and I've noticed that there's usually a very airy main cola surrounded by these branches of bud material. The high is almost dissociative and very "trippy". It depends on the exact lineage of the strain (the strain will usually possess different ratios of cannabinoids including THC, CBD, CBN, THCV, CBC, CBG etc). In my experience, it's like a really vivid dream where anything is possible in your mind. I suspect that the higher THC content emulates a dissociative effect that quiets down neurons to the point where some neural circuits are turned "off". Some of the more exotic Sativa strains have a very high ratio of cannabidiol (CBD), which is an antipsychotic agent (a Brazilian study demonstrated that CBD was as effective as amisulpride for treating psychosis).
Cannabis sativa subsp Indica is a stockier, bushier plant with denser bud material as an adaption to the dry, sunny and very harsh mountains it evolved on. In general, Indica plants have a thick resinous terpene coating all over the bud to attract pollen. This stuff is usually what makes Indica hashish sticky and gooey (most Afghan, Pakistani and Indian hashish is made from Indica varieties). In general CBD is at a proportion that makes it enough to attenuate some of THC's dissociative effects. It stimulates the more inhibitory effects of THC thus creating a more intoxicated and drunk state. The high is often called a stone because it may sedate users. Cannabidiol will cyclize to THC over time with exposure to ultraviolet radiation. All cannabis will have their THC oxidized to CBN at one point. CBN or cannabinol is a weaker cannabinoid with less CB1/2 affinity. It is usually responsible for the more residual, sleepy effects of cannabis. In my personal experience, I think that indica strains will stimulate the drowsy effect, but CBD itself can induce mild psilocybin/LSD-like psychological hallucinations due to 5HT1A receptor agonism.
I leave it up to you whether said info is good or bad.

all of the previous answers, while somewhat true, make weed sound much more like alcohol. they act like the main thing it does is decrease inhibitions. not really. maybe slightly , but nothing like alcohol. in fact when i smoke more, sometimes my inhibitions actually increase. unlike alcohol, which can make you do crazy things or things you regret, weed doesnt really do that, at least not to me. and the laughter thing hardly happens to me at all,, but maybe thats because i smoke by myself usually.
weed makes me feel mellow, yet strangely paranoid about getting caught or paranoid about people talking about me. this effect is most prevalent the first few times i smoked weed, but now not so much. well i would say weed is more of a sensory experience than anything else. its not hallucinogenic, but things do get distorted, but not in a way that would pose danger (unless you were driving). like if i close my eyes while stoned and then roll my head behind my neck in a circle, it feels like my head is moving 2 opposite directions at once, and it gives the impression of it moving fast. and when this happens there is some sort of visual imagery (not a hallucination, but just an image in the mind, like a daydream ). when i walk slowly and in a zig zag while closing my eyes, it feels like my feet are spinning around my ankle a full 360 degrees. music sounds a bit better. and i can have very interesting and surreal visual images pop into my imagination that are awesome. i also find that while there is some distortion , espescially in the way things sound (but not like a hallucinogenic, its very mild). its fun to lay down while high and it feels like you are drifting and your imagination is enhanced so u can just imagine urself drifting through strange caverns and stuff or traveling through the galaxy. oh yesterday i held onto a flashlight while high, i closed my eyes, i started to let go a little and the light started slowly moving downwards. it felt like my hands were moving up against the flashlight and i was startled when it hit the floor. here is why this happened: a downward moving flashlight gives the same sensation on your hand as if your hand was moving upwards on a flashlight that was held stationary; when sober , your senses automatically tell you that its the flashlight moving down and not your hand moving up. while high, the slight sensory distortion made it so that my brain chose the alternative possibility of the hand moving up (normally your arm could tell if it was ur hand moving up, but when u are stoned and your eyes are closed (which somehow makes u feel 100 times more stoned it seems) you feel your body drifting or accelerating (almost like on one of those artificial gravity machines at amusement parks) and the illusion of my arm moving was created. thus i thought i was moving my hand upwards.
anyways, i also get increased appetite, extremely dry mouth (like sahara desert dry it seems), and its easier to go to sleep.
most people use marijuana for social purposes, and thus they describe it in terms of laughing more, decreased inhibitions, etc. i personally have never had decreased inhibitions from marijuana, if anything my inhibitions may actually increase some, but my awareness of my surroundings decrease or i may act different , which may give the appearance of reduced inhibitions, when in reality im more inhibited than when im sober. no, unlike alcohol, marijuana wont cause you to suddenly become super extroverted. alcohol does that. marijuana makes extroverts slightly more extroverted , yet maybe a bit more relaxed at the same time, it makes introverts like me much more introverted while they are stoned. introverts (not to be confused with shyness, which merely makes a person seem introverted) enjoy being lost in thought; and marijuana gives you a lot of interesting effects to explore while you are stoned. so i like to just sit there with my eyes closed when im stoned. extroverts become more extroverted because weed makes them laugh.
also : weed doesnt really cause euphoria, it causes some relaxation , but not really any strong euphoria. it doesnt give a "OMG THIS FEELS SO GOOD, IM ON THE TOP OF THE WORLD, IM WORTH A MILLION BUCKS!!!!" feeling. id say its less euphoric than alcohol, which in turn is much less euphoric than the truly euphoric drugs like amphetamines, cocaine, and opiates.
weed does distort logic a little bit , but not that much. alcohol distorts ur thinking much more. and to be honest : its much safer to have ur perceptions a bit distorted from marijuana or even a hallucinogen than it is to have both your motor skills and thinking distorted from alcohol. i enjoy getting drunk , but of all drugs, alcohol has one of the worst hangovers. and i usually do stupid stuff while drunk. and plus, everything situation with alcohol involved becomes a competition almost for who can either get the most drunk or can get the hottest girl, which ends up reminding me of how i cant get laid for some reason. i like the way alcohol makes me feel. but unlike drunks, stoners dont bother random people. weed doesnt distort thought that much at all, so i smoked weed at a party, but didnt drink that much , and i was essentially a sober person among a crowd of drunks.
one of the best effects of weed is that it adds a sense of beauty to everything, i wont use the phrase "it makes me feel happy" because its not a sense of happiness, but more of a sense of relaxation and just thinking back to memories, etc. and just feeling in tune with nature and my own thoughts.
