This has always intrested me for some reason
So like the title explains would you rather go to say a local corner shop or a newsagents or a small brand store
OR
Would you go to asda or wal-mart or you know a big name brand store
the reason why i ask is where i live we have a lot of local stores that sell mostly the same stuff as say asda but as it is smaller it tends to be more costly
So do you support your local stores by brining your buisness to them
OR
Do you just go to the big brand name stores like asda or Wal-mart
So what are your reasons

I got to local business's because I feel there is a better atmosphere within the store(its friendlier). I have also noticed that the quality of goods is superior to the goods of the chain stores in most circumstances. Things may be a tad bit more expensive, however, I feel that they are better than huge chain stores.

Depends on what the item I am search for and the cost difference. Sometimes I will research the item at a variety of different stores then compare online and get it for free shipping and save money. Some small stores have some unique items while the big stores tend to stock the latest, greatest items..
Depends.

It really depends for me - usually I try to go to local stores, but most of the time it is more expensive, although the quality of goods tends to be slightly higher(not always, though).
But yeah, the prices are quite a bit higher at local stores, which is why I sometimes end up going to a chain, because I'm scroogy-ish.

It depends on what I'm buying. If I'm buying clothes, I'll go to a big store, but if I'm buying records or something like that, I'll go to a local store.

Local stores. No matter what for, clothes, music, shoes. I do go to the mall sometimes, usually after my birthday or Christmas, whenever I have more money than usual. But I just prefer cheaper stores.
There's always something really amazing for really cheap. Always.

Agree, cheap is better... sometimes not as high quality, but whats the old saying "You get what you pay for?" Anyways, I will shop around before I buy ANYTHING.... a few extra minutes can save or break you.... :-) Happy Shopping !!

Local stores are generally closer to my house, I'd rather spend a tad more money than drive 5-10 miles. But if there are lots of stuff to buy, then I would make a trip to those big brand stores.

I try to go to local business to stop the Wal-Mart monster(which oddly started in my state)and I try to go to my local pets stores and hobby stores, but the big box stores are really hard to resist :(.I do get my pet supplies and garden supplies at locally owned stores.
I think we should do our best to go to locally owned things, just to support your local economy and plus, locally owned places usually are more knowledgeable in what they tell you and may have more quality products.

Well, in a big American city like Houston, most businesses are part of large corporate chains. I just go to wherever's the most convenient, which is almost always a corporation-controlled business.
I don't prefer local businesses over national chains, especially since many of them mimic the competition to attract customers. The only exceptions are the local gyms and this Thai restaurant I've been to, which use their local-ness as something special (but that doesn't work, because they're still expensive as fuck).

I try to buy local when I can. But sometimes it's just not available.

I don't really care, I'll go to whatever is closest and meets my needs. Of course, there are perks to going to a local store frequently. You and the owner become friends, sometimes you get free stuff, and it's just a more friendly atmosphere.
