So lately I've been having issues with it. So usually every time I plugged in the iTunes would come up and it would "sync" and all that shit. But now, even after I put magical tape on the cord, it won't even load up the iTunes, it just charges it, it's like it doesn't read my iPod anymore. So what do I need to do here, get a new cord, or some other shit?

Has it got any nicks in it or breaks? It sounds to me like its not the cable thats the problem, have you tried backing up itunes, uninstalling and then reinstalling it?

Yes, please describe any cosmetic issues with the cable. Obviously, if the cable is damaged in any way there is a pretty good chance that you need to replace it. If the cable isn't physically damaged, then you may be having issues with the ipod itself... what version ipod? itunes backed up? you may need to uninstall and reinstall itunes. Just provide a little more info so maybe we can help you out a little bit more.

Nothing visible on the cod except for the cover for the plug in for the ipod itself busted off. I don't know how to back it up :whoops: lol

Yeah I tried them all and restarting my computer nothing worked on that.

Well there's nothing real jacked up about the cord, I'm going to figure out how to back it up because I used lime wire so I have a file for my music from the iTunes "Automatically add to iTunes" and then I have the iTunes Library itself... Then I have a file that I used to use from limewire, so I'm not too sure what I'd technically be downloading. I just don't think it's recognizing the device imo because it charges, but it just doesn't sync my shit if that makes sense.. Also it's an iPod Shuffle..

Maybe you can borrow a cable from your friend? Try using your ipod on their computer with your cable? With their cable?
If the former works, you may have to buy a new cable. If the first of the latter two works, then you may have a computer issue. If the 2nd latter one works, then you should try the former and then try the former latter.

Geddit? :)

To back up go to File > Library > Back up to disk. And then try installing and reinstalling, it might just be the iTunes, mine does it sometimes.

Well the first thing to try is:

Unplug the iPod
Go Start Menu > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services (or alternatively go to the Run dialog and enter services.msc)
Stop and restart the Apple Mobile Device Service and the iPod Service.

That often works for me with iPod recognition issues.

I would try to backup and then remove/reinstall itunes then restore the music library...

Sounds like a faulty cord. If it is the original Apple cord, and your iPod is still under warranty or you have purchased Applecare, you should be able to exchange it for a new one at your local Apple Store.

yeah there are the ports at the front that only charge because they have limited power compared to the back ports which have enough power to support data transfer

What are you talking about? No! That's never(or rarely) the case!
All USB ports have the same amount of power and data-transfer capacity(unless one is broken). USB ports on the front were designed to support data transfer -- you wouldn't want to crawl under the desk to the back of the dusty machine just to plug in a USB flash drive, now would you?

I have a new theory:
If you happened to get a shoddy or defective cable, and you bent it too much, the internal wires may have broken. Have you tried a different cable yet?
